Im seeing a doctor right now because of my inability to get out of the house. I do have other issues, but this is the issue that really seems to get in the way of me doing what I want to do with my life (I love being outside). I haven't mentioned the aspergers or asd to any doctor and Im just wondering if it would be worth mentioning? Does anyone know if treatment for this issue would be any different for a person with aspergers?

Yes, you might as well.
He'll know whether it's relevant or not better than we will.
Besides, it can't hurt since he's supposed to keep it confidential anyway.

I would. We have different challenges and even if its not necessarily relevant, it might be. I know it would be for me.

I would expect it wouldn't really change the treatment, which I would expect would be CBT or extinction therapy - both of which aren't particularly more ineffective or anything in those with AS. However, it's probably not a bad thing to mention as it may make the doc more understanding/patient/sympathetic towards you.

Only if you're planning on being a sperm donor.

Im definately not planning on being a sperm donor..... wrong gender!

Are there any potential downsides to mentioning aspergers to my doctor? Im trying to weigh this against any positive I could potentially get from this.
