I'm not sure if this is OCD or ASD-related, as I had it in one form or another since childhood.

I feel like I cannot select the desired choice (out of a list, say) if it falls possibly within an even number ('possibly' since it's usually done without even thinking about even and odd numbers, but when I was a child I remember thinking about this after learning about even and odd).

Most annoying would be the second-from-last or just the second choice (from e.g. an online search) and to compensate these days I use the cached versions of the webpage, since that wouldn't highlight the whole result.
The highlighting of these choices is obviously most noticeable in hyperlinked text, as when you click on one it goes dark blue.

As a child I also had some strange obsession with a right-to-left order... like if I was putting on shoes, I would feel bad if I began with the left one (and felt awful when my parents did it and then I pulled it out again so I could put the right one first).

Anyone else ever felt like this? Any reason for it, you think?

This isn't obsessive, it's compulsive behavior.

However it's only OCD if it takes up about an hour a day, so lets not use the term so lightly.

I would say this is stereotyped rituals accociated with ASD, I do them to and mistook it for OCD originally, mine were quite time consuming sometimes.

I had a lot of these. I brushed my teeth in sequences of twelve. I would count how many steps it took to get from place to place. I couldn't step on the morter between tiles. I have to wash my hands after touching pretty much anything. Yeah, I'm insane, but I agree I would go with ASD over OCD.

Could be ASD or OCD. What do you feel if you don't do it??

I am the absolute opposite in terms of order. I had to go left-to-right when putting shoes on, and I always had to take the first step on the stairs with my left foot. If there was an odd number of steps, I would put my right foot on the last step with my left and then go to the end with my left foot leading.
