I have known for a few months that I have Asperger's, but I have yet to bring it up to my mother or my psychologist. I really need help! I don't want her to know that ive known for so long and not wanted to tell her, but I just don't know what to say.
I have therapy in about an hour, so post ASAP!

Thanks so much in advance!! !!

P.S. Some info about me: I am a 14 year old girl, about to go into high school. I am diagnosed with ADHD, and I'm pretty sure my therapist knows I have Aspergers. Also, I'm into bones and I know she was based off of someone with AS, so maybe i could say something related to that.

It's as simple as this:

"I was reading about AS, and I think I might have it. What's your opinion on that?"

I was considering going that route, but what if she questions why I was reading about it? i was considering saying that something said bones was based on a person with Aspergers and I looked it up, and it seemed just like me. What do you guys think?

Write a note, that way you can say exactly what you want to say. You can re-write it as many times as you want, until you feel like you have said everything you want/need to say exactly how you want.

Sounds like a perfect intro.

It really is just as simple as this. Just do it. I know it feels awkward and overwhelming in your head thinking about it, and it will feel awkward when you actually do it, but you have to push past that and just ask. No need for note writing, no need for rehearsal, no need to reference Bones. Only us aspies would make it that complicated. Just ask, it's very simple. If anything, have a list of reasons why you think you have AS with you, I did. Between my AS issues of having a hard time expressing my inner self combined with memory problems, I need a cheat sheet for almost everything :)

You guys are probably right... I just know that my therapist will want to know why i looked it up in the first place. I have finally come up with something im comfortable with, its pretty strait forward, but gives a little background into why i looked it up. Here it is:

" A girl at camp mentioned Aspergers Syndrome, and i looked it up and it sounds so much like me."
Im pretty sure that my parents have discussed this possibility, so if i mention it she might either tell me what my parents and she think, or ask why i think i have it. Most possible outcomes seem pretty good. And if she asks what the person at camp said, ill tell her that they told me i reminded them or people with Aspergers. It's true, and i think it'll work!

Thanks for all your input!
