I was having a discussion about this in another forum and came to the conclusion I don't want the incompetent people in charge of that having any say over what I do with my life. If they are too stupid to understand that doing well in college and self medicating do not mean one does not need any help and can hold a job then I want nothing to do with it.

And the people on the forum had almost convinced me to commit myself to a psych ward so I would have medical history to use to apply for SSI......do that only to have some incompatant bastards run my life because they think I should be on anti-depressants instead. lol that is an exageration I was not actually going to take their advice without thinking it through. I am just frusterated that i cant seem to figure out anything to do.

Most people can't figure out what to do with their life. They just pick something so they can eat and have a roof over their heads while they think about it.

I can't even afford to move out...and my mom and her boyfriend will probably continue screaming at each other off and on every other day or whatever, my mental state will continue to go downhill it's hopeless and even government programs are of no help because I use something that helps decrease the pain. grrr! I am just really frusterated.

When my first husband abandoned me and my two small children, I considered applying for welfare. I went to the office and spent the morning there. The smells, sights, sounds and overall energy of the people there made me want to throw up. I made a decision/bet that I was going to make this thing right and go out in the world and figure out how to make it.

For many years following I worked so hard and at such crappy jobs that I made even less than if I had been on welfare after deducting my childcare expenses. But every day I pushed on. Years later I found myself on the upturn and today I make more money than I can possibly spend and push money into the system instead of pulling money out.

Sometimes when you are in a corner it is time to take action and just get past yourself. It is scary, a big gamble and very, very hard. But every now and then that gamble pays off. Sounds to me like you could hardly do worse for yourself than to sit around and do nothing.

...just saying....

Well the trouble is tend not to be able to function that well at jobs........and always get fired. I just do not feel there is any way I can make it with just trying to work. I have been pushing on.......to the extent of pushing myself too far all my life, and its finally been catching up to me. I am not really doing nothing....I am in college, but still I just feel there is no where to go from here.

I got fired from lots of jobs too but those little bouts of times I was working were all important to my Big Picture ultimately. You need to find your "peeps". Here is the deal. We are 1-110 or so in this world and there are "pockets" of people like us out there. I found mine in the high-tech field. I started out doing the crappiest jobs ever to work in this field. I could also do okay in jobs that related to any special interest. I loved animals (for example) and could actually work in retail in a pet store. Whatever your special interest, figure out how to capitalize on it. Keep moving. Keep trying and keep failing. If you read the bios of any successful person you will read more failures to successes. I know for sure was that way in my own bio.

You are heading downhill fast anyway. You can either give up and ride that out or you can make choices and potentially divert it. You may also make things go badly quicker which may also be a boon in some ways.

You can be a victim to what life throws at you or you can attempt to empower yourself. If you do NOTHING, you will be a victim to whatever happens. THAT is the only fact in this game of life.

Well I don't really have a special intrest that would help with anything......my entire life whenever I did have an intrest it was virtually beaten out of me. To the point where I became so self concious I was afraid to actually purse any intrests at all...because it would only be met with 'you suck.' I have more or less gotten over some of that and am not embarrassed about everything I like but I never really learned how one goes about actually pursuing something. Also now I really feel I do not want to be just another part of the system....I don't particularly find the idea of getting into the competitive career world all that appealing. I don't do the fake it and take a little bit of emotional abuse without letting it effect your job performance or be fired thing very well.

I really don't see what I am supposed to empower myself with......I have no confidence for one and no real talents. I am not really doing nothing I am in college, but yeah what good does college do you if you're not focused on a career?

oh.... So you really don't WANT to work or do anything to change where you are.... You're looking for getting something for nothing.

My bad. Completely misunderstood.

Carry on...

I really do not think the sarcasm is nessisary but thanks for that...really made my day.

Maybe you just don't understand how it feels to be severely depressed and how hopeless things can seem in that state of mind. Now I kind of wish I could delete this so no one else decides to take any shots at me for feeling this way...
