Aspies, can you still hyperfocus after consecutive days of 50-60% of the recommended amount of sleep - assuming, of course, that you normally could?

I often stay awake for days at a time. So long as I "catch up" on sleep afterward, and eat enough food while awake, I can easily go 30 to 40 hours awake.

But give me three or four days days with only four or five hours sleep each day, and my mind stops working effectively.

My regular schedule involves going to bed around 2 or 3 AM, waking up at 6:45 AM every weekday. One weekends, I usually stay up all night playing video games Fri. or Sat. Then I will get about 12 hours of sleep on Sunday to make up for it.

More than a few years ago, I would stay up almost all weekend. Getting up on Friday to go to school. Not sleeping until sometime mid-day Sunday. 90% of that time was spent playing video games. (Yep, I love em) Guess I'm getting old as I cannot do that anymore.

I do get tired at times. As long as I keep myself engaged I don't notice it. But if I'm just sitting around idle I will start having those little micro naps.

The main thing is that I cannot go to sleep unless I'm actually tired. I can't be tired if I'm concentrating on something.

i find taking a capsule of choline helps.

I usually need the normal 7-8hrs sleep to function in daily life cause I need the energy to perform socially. When it's a special interest then I usually hate going to sleep cause it interupts me and I can sometimes stay awake for 24 to 48 hours, hyper-focused and engaged. Like Arak said though, once I'm not engaged anymore I start to doze off.

P.S. I also smoke/vaporize weed consistantly when I am doing my thing and I still manage to keep focused for nearly 2 days straight... Everyone I know passes out in a couple hours after.

I hyperfocus more with less sleep. I become less aware of my surroundings and have no other option.
