I have been seeing this neuro psyc for about 3-4 months...with about 1 appointment every month so 3-4 appointments so far.
My purpose for visiting him was to see whether he though I had any form of autism whether aspergers or other.
Then we later discussed my memory problems and said that was something i'd like to work on as well.
I took home a test that was around 500 questions that I answered as honestly as possible.
I forgot what it was called....but I made a post asking about it on here awhile ago to see if anyone else had took it.
Then I took some memory cognitive tests which tested different types of memory like visual, auditory, written, patterns, and mazes.
I did decent i think on visual, patterns, and mazes but my auditory and written were pretty bad.
Atleast one appointment we've probably just talked about stuff but I don't recal exactly what.

Anyways, given this testing and no other actual testing related to aspergers or autism whether he diagnoses me with aspergers or not would you say this was a valid diagnosis?
I have my doubts that he will diagnose me, my thinking is that he didn't feel the need to give me aspergers or autism tests because he was so sure of one way or the other.

It sounds to me like the tests that he performed on you were designed to diagnose ASDs.

well the 500 question one (looked it up it's the MMPI-2) has nothing to do with autism/aspergers and is primarily used for cops to take though still used in psychology today

and the memory tests were to test my memory so we can work on area that I am having difficulty with....nothing to do with autism though patterns/mazes could but seems he would have said so.

well when i was evaluated none of the stuff i did had to do with autism/aspergers.
in fact it seems like the tests are similar to the ones i took. if you don't think you were properly diagnosed talk him about it like ask him what the tests were designed to do and why he thinks you have ASD

The MMPI-2 seems similar to the PAI, which was part of my evaluation for diagnosis. The PAI was used for me for ruling out alternative reasons for the symptoms to be visible, in diagnosing ASDs you need to not only show that the person shows the symptoms, but also that they've been present since birth and that they're not better described by another cause.

good point and I will

I was just under the impression that there were specific tests they were supposed to do for autism.

but it appears that is not always the case.....which is a bit more re-assuring.

That sounds similar to my testing. I think she knew what I have right after the first appointment, but they still need to go through all the standard tests and procedures to rule out anything else. She said all those little weird test will help us to find my strength and weakness so we can figure out how to cope better.

I'm still waiting for the final appointment.

I'm after the first appointment, there hasn't been any test yet. An IQ test is scheduled, along with an ADI-R interview with my parents, concerning my childhood. Maybe the most important thing to know is that the symptoms have been present since birth.
