terrific!..have you been house hunting yet? seems like they're popping up faster than people moving into them these days..

one day i'm hoping to buy my own land to put this trailer, then i'll probably end up having a house built or something, but that's down the road a ways..

I am at stage one in the process. Colorado has a great govt supported first-time buyer program, where I get an awesome rate, and only have to come up with $1000 down. I work for a bank, and because I am doing it through my bank, I get no origination fees either.

I've only just started looking, but I think I want to get something on the East side of town, out on the plains. I can get a nice ranch house with a few acres for not much money at all. Yay!

Congratulations, Anachronism. I hope that you find a home that you can truly enjoy. I wish I could afford one myself, but the costs of housing in my area (Washington DC metropolitan area) are insane. For a studio condo, I'd be looking at $200,000. For a modest townhome, I'd be paying $350,000. For anything resembling a real house, I'd be spending to the tune of over half a million dollars.

Considering that I'm barely surviving on my measly $44,000 salary, taking on that level of debt wouldn't be a very prudent move on my part. Perhaps the ridiculous home valuations in my area will cool down as interest rates rise. One can hope, at any rate.
