good book about getting manipulated by other people?
The best books on this subject are by George K. Simon, Jr., Ph.D.
#1: In Sheep's Clothing: Understanding and Dealing with Manipulative People
#2: Character Disturbance: the phenomenon of our age
He also has the blog ---> Dealing With Manipulative People.

In Sheep's Clothing: Understanding and Dealing with Manipulative People
Character Disturbance: the phenonmenon of our age
There is a good chance a library may have at least a copy of In Sheep's Clothing, if not also Character Disturbance.
I labeled these --> Survival Books <-- on the site for Aspies of the Round Table for good reasons. I can't think of anything more important for Aspies to learn than to be aware of how people manipulate others. Because Aspies tend to be "what you see is what you get" kind of people (i.e., childlike), we're more prone than neurotypicals to be manipulated.

The easiest way to spot them is if they want your attention for any price. Also they can suddenly switch when they finally got your sympathy for example, to start triggering your attention towards something else.
I dont notice instantly that I have one in front of me, but when these shifts in situation occur I wake up.
Its much easier to see if somebody else is being manipulated. The whole thing is too broad anyway because people are also manipulating each other without knowing it, because they need the attention. It just depends on how much control they have, or try to have.
