I'm not very good at writing so don't expect this to be top grade.

I met an boy named Daniel Baxter with high functioning autism in primary school. I first met him when I discovered him in the toilets with the flusher chain around his neck saying he was sick of life. I managed to talk him out of it and that's when we became friends. I never noticed anything different with him apart from he used to follow me around saying nothing (which is what I was like at the time anyway) I think he was very interested in me because at the time I always used to talk about things like Area 51, Roswell and Aliens. This was untill we went to high school and he started to become reluctant to stay at school and was running away from school (He was fat but an incredibly fast runner). I went out with him once and we went round the side of the school down a driveway where he started running around in circles and wouldn't respond to his name, he then took me to a tree house that was through a hole in a fence that was at the bottom of a graveyard in somebodys back garden. We sat in there for about 5 mins when he started saying somebody was there and started getting paranoid. I wasn't actually aware he had autism at the time but it was not long after I got news he had got really paranoid his dad was going to die and locked his family in the house which lead to him being sent into a mental institute.

He is obsessed with me so I have actually had other people tell me hes been asking questions about me (3 years later). I think I must of been the only person who actually spent time with him as most over people avioded him because they said he was weird. Which is reason to believe he is out as a girl I knew said she saw him at college and told me he asked about me.

I really wish I could of know about autism back then like I do now. I could of even shown him my own personal spots where I went in school to get away from people during dinner time and break time which could of encouraged him to stay and maby feel safer in school. He followed me so it wouldn't of been that hard to go and sit down with him for an hour in a sealed part of the building. although its scary when everybody comes in after they unlock the doors (Not sure if he was scared by crouds).

Would like to hear some of your views on this.

Thanks
