Why is the future not what it used to be?

Why/how can there be a thing such as wrong planet.

Who is the planet made for anyway?

If the world was like the 'venus project', would aspergers still exist?

is their a place in the world where everyone is happy? - There are too many unhappy people making it difficult for the one's striving for happiness.

Can't we all just flourish together. Instead of live this crap life with media and political and health BS.

HOW THE FRIG ARE THERE PEOPLE STILL MINING FOR OIL :S GAHHHHHHHHHHH

1. It isn't?
2. Because there is no place on the Earth with proper aspie culture.
3. NT people.
4. I don't know what that is.
5. I don't know, in a lone hermit's hut?
6. Why can't we?
7. Because they don't care about the future and oil makes a ton of money as it is in high demand.

1. Technology?
2. We were actually a expedition of scientists placed on the wrong planet to study. Since then our ship was lost and we can't get home.
3. A bi-pedal species.
4. Also don't know what that is.
5. Happiness is a temporary emotion. There's too much lying and selfish gain for it to last any longer.
6. We are ruled by governments made up of liars and cheats. Usually they start off ok but power corrupts. The weaker (lenient) ones get overthrown by the powerful ones. They control the media which controls us.
Health is not BS. Health is what we need to have a normal functioning body. What the government is doing to health is BS.
7. Money.

That is a joke.

That is a metaphor.

If the universe was created, then it is possible that the Earth was intended for a purpose, but we do not know if that is the case. "INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANSWER" and all.

Yes. Of course. It's a neurological condition intrinsic to human genetics, and from the ten seconds glance I gave their website they don't seem to intend to muck about with that.

No.

No.

Civilisation needs oil in large quantities and OPEC are lying (have been for a long time, actually) about the state of their reserves so there's a strong incentive to find more.

But I suspect you're under the impression that oil is the main problem. Oil isn't the problem (except insofar as people are wasting it by using it as a fuel and not a chemical feedstock.) Coal is the main problem in terms of upping the CO2 PPM.

Actually no, the real problem is that the entire human economy is based around the curious notion that exponential growth* can continue indefinitely in a closed system, as if it were impossible to deplete any resource or cause damage to the environment. Some transition to a steady state model is needed before we run out of Agar.

*by which I mean exponential growth, and not "exponential, that's a fancy word for lots!!11!"

The future is not. Yet.

Everybody.

Yes. The Venus Project will not solve the world's problems, because it cannot, and will likely cause more unanticipated problems, as do all "solutions" humans have tried.

If so, it isn't here.

Not until we all agree to agree about everything.

Because they are idiots.

Actually, Mark Twain.

The full quote is:

"Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't." ~ Pudd'nhead Wilson's New Calendar

He also said,

"Truth is stranger than fiction--to some people, but I am measurably familiar with it."

and,

"Truth is more of a stranger than fiction."

The future was always unknown. It still is.

Yes, the existence of a place where we can associate with people who we relate to is awful.

Quote:

The book I'm reading describes this planet as "a death trap" that humans have been clever enough to survive on. I'd say it wasn't made for anyone.

So people are unhappy, and your thought is not "I am sorry that they are unhappy" but "They are making it difficult for me to be happy."? Don't you think that's a little self-centred (to say the least!)?

My life isn't that crap; noone is forcing you to pay attention to the media and politics, and health is not BS.

Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction. They may be summed up by the phrases: 1- It's completely impossible. 2- It's possible, but it's not worth doing. 3- I said it was a good idea all along.
Arthur C. Clarke

“My favourite definition of an intellectual: 'Someone who has been educated beyond his/her intelligence.”
― Arthur C. Clarke
