Both my siblings were popular growing up so there were always plenty of people around. In some ways it has helped alot kind of forcing me to get some social skills has anybody else here had the same upbringing ?

Yes, I come from a family and they are all NTs (except for my great uncle who has mild Mental Retardation, but I've only met him once when I was a child). I have 12 cousins who I grew up with, and they are all NT, and I was raised by NT parents, and I also went to mainstream school, so I couldn't really escape the NT world if I tried. So now I've found I've adapted to it quicker or easier than some other Aspies on here.

I went to boarding school, where you had no personal space at all. There were people everywhere all the time. You had to be really imaginative to make your own space. I withdrew into my own head, opted out of reality and lived in my own world. The situation forced you to develop some social skills, I suppose. Not to be recommended, though.
