I read this page recently, and thought it was great.
It may be true or it may not be, either way it's an interesting read.

It's probably been posted somewhere on this site before, but ...

It's a thought, that we are a natural evolutionary development, and that just maybe one day we will be the majority, ruling a more peaceful and pleasant world.

First before you even entertain the idea you better prove that ASD is as common in
non-Europeans blood lines. Beacuse most Europeans blood lines are in countries with
low birthrates. Evolution loves babies and thats it.

Star Trek got there first. Classic trek, that is. There was an AM among the command crew of the USS Enterprise - "along with Captain Kirk...."

Given that Aspies are second only to homosexuals as the group least likely to breed, surely "evolutionary cul-de-sac" would be a better term? 8O :D

:D hehe .. That was my first thought too, then I started thinking ... well if that were true, then there just wouldn't be any by now (lack of breeding). And I think I read somewhere that aspergers births just happen at times randomly (ie. an aspie is born into a non aspergers family) If that's true then you could suggest evolution. (though I'm not 100% ceretain of that being true)

This is the most positive piece of writing on Asperger's that i have read. It does make sense if you think that AS people are supposed to have a trait which initiates making changes to language, how did the different languages originate in the first place.

...Ah, one day there will be enough of us aspies, getting our heads together ... we'll figure out a way of getting off this planet together and finding our own planet (again?) Im sure that would be a great place :D

I don't think that is ture. As long as you have a birth rate with a mutation evoultion can still happen.
There has been mutaion in humans in just the past 100 years(including European). I heard that 100 years ago people were shorter and were more muscluar.

Hermit raises an important point about the reproductive output of aspies and homosexuals, but the conclusion is less obvious than it appears.

There was never a time when I sat down, thought about it, and decided who I would be attracted to. I believe homo/heterosexuality is innate, quite likely in the genes, so therefore it would be on natural selection's target range.

For some reason I don't understand, it seems that the "gay gene" is remarkably common in modern human populations, considering that it would seem to make it's carriers far less likely to breed. Some heterozygote advantage, maybe, I have no idea.

But it seems possible that some equivalent phenomenon could be perpetuating the "aspie gene."
