So last Friday I was officially diagnosed with AS. I suppose I should feel relieved, but mostly I just think about how it will be easier to tell people I have AS without going through the "but you're just self-diagnosed" argument. Not that I intend to tell most people I know. In fact, I've told a total of three people before this post: my girlfriend, my mom, and a long-distance friend of mine. Being a very honest person, it irks me that something so pervasive in my life must be kept a secret, since most people either won't care or will only know stereotypes.

I'm not really sure what my point in making this post is. I rarely post on this site, so most of you won't recognize my name. I guess I just needed to tell someone.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble.

Hopefully it will help you having a diagnosis. At least you can know for sure now. I spent a few months before diagnosis up in the air as thought I probably had it but didn't know for sure.
I get the bit you said about being honest but feeling you can't tell people. I'm telling select people e.g. if it affects relationships or work. With other people I would probably only share superficial things anyway so I'm not lying just not close enough to tell them personal things.

I thnk you're lucky, to know why you are the way you are. But I understand about not liking to keep things secret. From what I've read here, our kind of people love the truth. I think you'll make adjustments to your level of self-revelation and find peace with it, in time.
