Apparently there are iPad apps for helping autistic people:

I do a good bit of communicating on my iPod Touch, which is like a smaller iPad.

I have an HP Touchpad (which will get Android put on it once its back from warranty stuff), and I'm pretty sure that the reason I have it is because of my Asperger's Syndrome. My dad's an HP employee, and one of his coworkers has two kids with Asperger's. When one of his coworkers (I think that one, but not positive), found out that he'd tried to get me a Touchpad in the employee sale, and failed, she sold him her's. I find it quite amusing that I'm pretty sure its because of my AS that I have a tablet.

I've not found any apps in the webOS catalog that would help me in particular (other than simply typing to communicate rather than speaking which is huge at times), but I'm pretty sure that there are some android ones that I'm going to install for that reason.

Autism? There's an app for that.

All an iPad is is a glorified iPhone. (Or iPod Touch, it depends.)

There's an app designed to help the high functioning with social skills and it looks pretty good. I don't really have a need for it but some people might.

I think applications are a really good teaching tool for people with autism.
