Anyone here good at job interviews?
I have realised to my amazement that I have an unbelievably high success rate at job interviews: 33 interviews, 28 successful and 5 unsuccessful, a success rate of around 84% (OK only 4 of the interviews were for "good" jobs against strong candidates and in those interviews the success rate was 0%, but still....). On the other hand daily interaction feels mostly like some kind of interview or test, so maybe that's why I'm so good at them, since I get a lot of practice.
So is there anyone else on WP who gets good results at job interviews?

Yes, I am good at job interviews.
I've been successful in getting the job offer from all but one of the jobs I've applied for.
This is for several reasons, I believe:
1. I only apply for jobs for which I know I am qualified and experienced enough to do - so
I am confident going in that I am a very good candidate for the job.
2. Interviews are predictable. They are a show. You learn the script - look up common interview questions and script your answers.
3. The interview process is as uncomfortable as hell. Eye contact is not something I do well, but with the scripted & rehearsed answers flowing out of my mouth automatically I have a little more resource to fake the eye contact than I do in normal interactions.
4. Stimming is not unusual in interviews even for those not on the spectrum as they are the kind of thing that everyone gets nervous about. Of course it depends on your stim, but I've never really worried about that in interviews.
Basically, an job interview is a much more predictable interaction than most and you can really do your homework and prepare for it. If only everyday conversations were like this I' have no problem with social interaction.....! !! !

I agree that you could be unfortunate in being one of several good candidates and not get the job.
However, in relation to first and second interviews - I would say that it's your CV or application form which gets you the first interview, but it is how you perform at that interview which determines whether you'll be asked back for a second one.
Well, obviously I had been to successful job interviews in the past, as I could manage to hold down fairly good jobs so far. I've never had push from anyone else, except my first job, and that didn't last long, so basically I did it all by myself, with a little help from my friend to get prepared for the interviews. My success rate wasn't that high, though. It's interesting that I got half of my jobs being picked out of a database, I did nothing to apply for those jobs, including the current one...
