Hi, It quite a time that I post on this forum and every time I post something, I check if someone has quoted my post or not. Actually I don't really care if you agree or not, I just care if it is quoted or not. Most of the time, it's not and it's always a bit irritating for me, because I think that my posts are so great.

Am I an insecure b***h?

I don't care if anyone quotes my posts. It's probably a better idea for people not to do so, as all my posts are possibly nonsensical stream of consciousness.

Please post a positive comment on my thread requesting a Thanks button! It's easier for people to do than quote posts if they just like what you've said, but it's very rewarding to see that people have thanked you, and to keep track of total number of thanks received if you're that way inclined, as I am :)

It annoys me if people do this kinda thing, since it means if I'm reading an entire thread, I'll end up reading the same stuff over and over again... I'd quote a comment if it was a page back, but not on the same page

Yeah, it annoys me too. It makes the pages really long and the information density on them very low.

I like people quoting specifically the relevant portions that they're responding too rather than the whole post. That's what I try to do personally. However, too many people just quote the entire post if they're responding to a sentence of it (on all forums that I've been on).

That would work. You see this in ADD forums.

As large as the forum is, it certainly doesn't encourage a long stay. In of itself you need a high post count just to become known; and ToM plays a negative role in dicerning whether someone needs encouragement, without that someone having to make it obvious.

At times you will see posted up about the "great effort and thought that was put into it and it was all unnoticed" and the comment that follows, "why bother," or "I quite doing that because no one replies to it."

Maybe some migrate to smaller boards.

I hate pyramid quotes so thanks to the quote collapse function I have, I don't have to deal with it. I can choose to open those quotes if I like and close them again. You need firefox to use this feature and have to install it.

It doesn't annoys me if people don't quote my posts. Sometimes I quote a post I agree with or can relate to or if I am directly replying to the person or if I have something to add. I don't always quote posts when I make replies because I figure it be obvious just by what I am saying. Besides it be annoying to quote every single post and then reply when I can type all my replies in one post and not directly reply to those posts because it be obvious who I am replying to. I am not going to quote ten different posts I agree with and then type my response. So I just type my response without quoting anything.

I would be more annoyed by being misquoted or quoted out of context. And yes, excessive nested quoting is also
annoying and it also causes pages to load more slowly.

I hate being quoted out of context too but people can still see my whole post by looking for it so it's not as annoying.

I find it annoying when someone has quoted a post and it says the wrong person wrote it. Sure people will know the person didn't write it because all they have to do is look and it will show someone else had said it, not the person in the quote. But it's still annoying.

I don't see a need to quote the original post since I'm here to respond to that post. If I want to talk about something someone else said in the thread, it's easier to avoid confusion to quote what you want to respond to since it's not the original post.

No, I think it's cool if people respond. I prefer intelligent, interesting or funny responses than just any old response. But it's good to know that at least someone reads your posts.

I get seldom quoted. Can be a bit annoying, but I've put up with it. :) I think everyone deserves feedback now and then, but you have to be a popular member... Also, people with odd views, who dwell too much in their lives in their posts, are less able to connect with others, have less verbal skills are not as welcomed.

I don't care one way or the other, really.

I only like being quoted when they are agreeing with me. Sometimes I have been quoted and they shot down every point I made or even worse. So when I am seeing I am being quoted, then I have to pray they are agreeing with me rather than shooting me down. I also get scared of private messages because on this site and others they just sent the message that they hate me or think I am some kind of liar. I have even had this message that they think I am making everything up about myself and shot everything down. So, its all about prayer for me.

You know you don't have to read everything, over and over again. I mean, you can it's your right but you don't have to.
