I recently read an article discussing the idea that ALL(quite an overgeneralization) aspies are fluent in what they called factanese; inserting random facts into conversations as an attempt to keep the conversation going. How many is that actually true for? It just really bothers me when people make assumptions and stick a label on everyone as a whole. Aspies are each different, just like anyone else would be different from the next person. Sorry for ranting. :P

Not me.

The number of people I know that are actually interested in the facts I might toss into a conversation is inversely proportional to the number of atoms in the universe ...

(The number of atoms in the entire observable universe is estimated to be within the range of 10^78 to 10^82)

I love telling people facts about my special interests. Most of the time people are really impressed by my level of knowledge.

Factanese is my first language, as a matter of fact.

Enough lol, that I've earned the nicknames from several sources independently of "Did you know Dan" and "Dan-a-pedia". Factanese, snazzy term =D

I am fluent in factanese! I will tell people a random fact as long as it has to do with the conversation. For example:
Person: *talking about a topic*
Me: Did you know *insert random fact about said topic here*

Yeah, that.

I'm definitely guilty of the random adding of facts, unless I'm being too shy in which case I just don't say anything.

 Yes I do this constantly. Nothing can be said that I don't have a "did you know..." comment too.

It is my style of sharing my interests. I'm not one to talk and talk about my interests, but this I do constantly. Luckily I've been told that my facts, if a little odd, are always interesting.

I love inserting facts into conversations whenever they pop into my mind. I don't do it to keep the conversation going. I just do it because it's fun and interesting. I love facts and factanese.

What the.....AH!! !! OBSERVABLE!! ! ok got it. Lol. Still, what a ridiculous thing to spend time calculating....
Ok, One question: how do you keep a conversation going without inserting facts? You can't just spend an hour debating ONE fact can you....

I believe (There is a giant ice berg calving in Antarctica as we speak) that the opening (You are more likely to get hit by lightening than to be killed by a shark) post is referring to the (my favorite color is blue) random facts. (my favorite color is blue) This is especially (my favorite color is blue) annoying when we (my favorite color is blue) randomly insert the (my favorite color is blue) same fact (my favorite color is blue) repeatedly (my favorite color is blue).
