I read somewhere a while ago that people with AS have trouble touching/handling food and or eating it due to textures.
I also have this happen.
I was wondering how many other people have this happen and what sort of foods is it?
Like i cant eat mash potato, or anything slimey. I cant touch meats like chicken cause of how it feels.
I hate preparing foods like stuff that usually has meat cause i cant stand how it feels on my hands.

Luckily I'm not too bad there. I can eat quite a lot of different things, and I actually enjoy textures.

However, I do remember that as a child I couldn't eat yoghurt with fruit chunks in it. Just putting it in my mouth made me choke and throw up. I didn't even want to see the stuff! Nowadays I can eat it if I have to, but I still don't enjoy it. Luckily I never buy it so I don't have to eat it :D .

I'm also very picky when it comes to soups. I'm not a soup person in any case, but while some soups I actually like, others I can't even bear the thought of eating them! Mostly the lumpy ones I have difficulties with, unless the lumps are meat, or the soup is otherwise clear (i.e. it's warm water with stuff in it).

Also, mashed potatoes are slimey? Good mashed potatoes are anything but slimey! The only way they can become slimey is if they are made with too much liquid, or worse from a pack! Good mashed potatoes (the only kind I'll eat) must be made from good cooked potatoes, just a bit of milk and butter, and one egg. And mash it enough that no hard bit remains (otherwise I'll choke!).

I have trouble with food textures, and some of them come and go. It used to be a lot worse when I was younger. I remember some food would actually make me throw up just from trying to chew and swallow it. I also remember being yelled at for "making myself vomit on purpose" so I wouldn't have to eat the food in question.

I have less trouble with touching foods, and I can't think of any offhand. I do admit that I don't like touching raw meat but I'm able to cope with it. Well, I do really dislike touching raw hamburger, I guess.

Hamburger is ground beef. They grind beef up into... I'm not sure what to describe it as. You can mold it, and it's often molded into patties to make hamburgers.

It's also called beef mince or minced meat.

I love mashed potatoes. :P I'm not too picky when it comes to food.

Though, I do hate eating blueberries because of they way they feel, like I'm eating bugs or something. xD

I don't like to touch food, either. One time my parents made me slap some meat patties into shape, and I thought I was going to puke. :eew: Also, or some reason, cold food really irks me.

My husband can't stand any "gooey" foods like pudding. Jello makes him want to throw up just thinking about it. Chip dips, salad dressings, etc runny, slightly thick liquids.

Me, I'm the opposite. I don't mind the liquidy things but I can't stand "sandy" textures like liver or clam bellies. My husband on the other hand doesn't mind these at all.

My food loves and aversions seem to come and go. I can relate to the mashed potatoes - my mother's lumpy version made me gag when I was a kid. Back then I liked everything to be separate on my plate and I'd eat it in a specific order.

One thing I love is crunchy food. If I don't have something crunchy every day, it just feels wrong.

It's not a problem. I didn't realize it was called so many different things.

I could try it in german =P but yeah, English has so many different words for one thing, Every state, territory and country, shire and county has a different word or phrase for something. its sooo weird.
Like i am still not sure what Bleachers are, but I know its an American term. ah well.

The only American meaning for "bleachers" that I know of is in reference to the metal temporary-ish tiered bench seating that is typical at sporting events.

Also, I like my food seperated as well. I'd eat on sectioned plates if I could find any that are a good size.

One of my former housemates used to mock me because I absolutely hated to let food touch other food on my plate. I have no idea what his problem was.

I don't mind it very much anymore, though.
