No because my desire is not to be perfectly normal, which is all that would attempt to accomplish.

I am in the hospital again, and i am at UNC chapel hill nc . I am letting all of you know, i am going to have to convince the doctors to let me go back home, and as of monday i will be here for 14 days. I was on 900 mg of neurontin,, 300 mg of sinaquan,, 30 mg of cymbalta, 40 mg of latuda, and 0.5 xanax 3 times a day. Right now the doctors have done nothing at all to help me out not one bit. They have taken away all my medications and i am highly aggitated, and anxious and they dont care here, I have been worried about the medications i have been taken off of since day one, They left me on 900 mg of neurontin and 300 mg of sinaquan. I am diagnosed as aspergers in UNC. I will tell you i have a lot on my plate, and i have way too much responsibilities for me. Having a combination of aspergers and nerve problems is not a very good combination. I am sitting here in UNC and i am waiting till i do get released. I am most likely wont be coming back to get help. I have some plans in place that is for sure when i do get out. I am going to try to get a hold of 30 ambiens, and i am going to get a sleeping bag and some pillows and covers and i am going to drive to the mountains and i am going to take a 40 mile hike. I am planning on taking preferable 30 ambiens and i will go to sleep, and sleep for ever. There is no way i can live like i am living now. I am sorry and i am upset, and i can not find any relief. I came in the hospital for help. Here the doctors have not helped me in any way and they have made me worse. The doctors say they do understand , but they dont understand at all. If the doctors understood , they would have tried harder to relieve my pain, Sorry dont worry about me i will be okay i guess.

@ katesmith. please don't do that. i ma sure you are a wonderful person. i don't want to sound corny or over reacting. i have been in your place before. i won't call the mods because if you talk about that stuff in a mental hospital it can make your like a lot worse. please edit your post before someone notices. if you need someone to talk to you can pm me. it always hurts when i hear of an autistic persons death because i feel a lot of sympathy for people like me.

@aspie48: If Kate didn't want people to notice, she wouldn't paste a link to her post above on IRC like she did. If you reread it, you see that she feels the hospital staff don't hear her pleas. She is turning to us because we walk in her shoes, and they don't.

this is not your fault. it is the fault of the system. believe me i know the system. i have only brushed against the harder edges of it. don't blame yourself. tell the doctors they do a bad job. if you have nothing left in life try to sue. if you get in legal debt you know what to do. if you get compensation you could be on a gravy train for life. you can really run up the bills on a good medical negligence and damages suit. start researching it. when you get out because they can see what you look at on the computer you are using now.

Really sorry to read about your situation, Kate. The hospital staff sound negligent at best - that's horrible. I hope you can find the strength to go on; we're all here for you.

Whoever this Kate Smith is, the situation seems fake and attention getting. Because if she was really at a hospital, seemingly a psych ward then she would not have access to the internet, therefore she wouldn't be able to post this. I've been to psych wards before, they take away every device from you. The only form of communication you have with the outside world is a phone call that is likely monitored.

Besides, even yet, this post does not belong here, it belongs in the haven. Whoever made the original post, well there thread just got destroyed due to an attention seeker.

To actually answer your question. Yes I've been on meds, they help with moods mainly they don't change the way you think. My doc told me particularly for those on the spectrum anti-psychotics work well. I know they work well with me. Everyone's body chemistry is different, many on the spectrum have sensative body chemistry's and anti-psychs are strong so it can vary.

As for behavior modification, there's therapies but in the end it's mostly your call. But the thing is, you DO need to be in the right therapy if its gonna help you. I've worked on my own behavior modification and have been successful at that because I didnt have the right help for the longest time.

@Ai_Ling: Please do not further destroy the thread with personal attacks. On IRC, the IP address from which Kate connected was 204.85.209.202, and if you can't trace that, don't shoot your mouth off. Every hospital is different. We've had other users in the chat from within psych wards, too.

First off, as much as this sucks, Kate's post doesn't belong in this thread. Now, to go to the OP.

For me, medications do help. They help me with my anxiety and depression. When I'm on one that is working, I'm able to at least work and take care of myself a little bit financially. It's hard, but it's doable. I think if you can find the right one for you to aid in the anxiety and depression, it may help. However, medications can be tricky, and it could take time to find one that does help. Also, when trying to find the right one, you may be put on one that may have some bad side-effects. It can be a tough process to find the right one, but when you do, it really helps.
