Internet Shopping and Self-Checkouts

If I have a choice I will invariably use a Self-Checkout lane or buy something over the Internet rather than going to a store and using a regular checkout lane.

I have put stuff back if the Uscans aren't open and gone to another store. I much, much prefer the Uscans.

I buy over the Internet quite often, but no way would I use a self-checkout store unless I was forced to. Why on Earth should I do a cashier's job for them and save a supermarket chain money on staff serving their customers? I highly doubt the products will get cheaper as a result.

They'll have customers stocking the shelves themselves next!

Because then you don't have to deal with the cashier?

Considering the way I've seen some workers stock the shelves that might not be so bad.

However, here are SEVERAL reasons why I prefer to use the Uscan:

1. As previously mentioned - not having to "deal" with the cashier (ie mindless chit chat)

2. Not having to put my items on a conveyor belt that often someone has put their leaking meat packages or milk packages or chemicals on. One cashier was surprised when I told her I didn't want my bread anymore after she pushed it over a scanner that was all wet. I thought it was disgusting.

3. I don't have to have BOTH the cashier and bagger put their filthy paws all over my stuff.

4. I can bag my food in some sort of sensible order. Unlike how the disgruntled and/or idiotic bagger will put cleaner in with candy or raw meat in with bread.

That is just a few off-hand that I can think of.

Same here, though I've had bad experiences buying appliances online. For those I have to physically go to the store and look.

I don't usually mind, especially if it's in the town where I live.

It's nice to see people, even if the conversation is mindless.

I absolutely love mail-order and internet shopping. No cashier making mindless small talk. No tramping round the high street with other stupid people getting in my way. Freedom to browse without the store detective staring at you like you're number one on the potential shoplifter list. I think that apart from groceries, I buy everything online now.

I hate how big companies are trying to destroy jobs so i use the humanoid checkout.
Plus I'm lazy.

Buying stuff online is about the only form of shopping I am comfortable doing on my own right now.
