What occupations do your family members have?

My mother was a high school dropout. My father was an electrician I guess. My mother and him broke up when she was pregnant and he died when I was 3. I never knew him.

My mom was a public school teacher but she retired last summer. She taught pre-K the last like 10 years. She was the teacher's pet when she was in school.
My dad's a carpenter. He does finish work like moldings & doors but he used to do most every aspect of building houses. My dad sux with technology & he dropped out of college after failing English a couple times & his teacher told my dad that he would never pass the class. He was working construction part-time while in college so he focused on that more. He's dyslexic & has bad ADD. I've been diagnosed as dyslexic & have ADD or ADHD since I started school but I'm sure I have AS too

My mother was a maths teacher. My Dad was a builder, then a stay-at-home Dad.

Yea , it's just a hypothesis anyways LoL.

My family are just average people; shop assistants, factory workers, council workers, carpenters, bar workers, computer technicians, etc.

My maternal grandmother was also a high school dropout and a homemaker that had many children. My grandfather was in the war and worked for the city I think. I don't know about great grandparents or any relatives on my father's side.

[edit]: I should mention that my own affinity for engineering takes the form of food science in my profession, and with electronics repair and house construction as hobbies.

I am starting to have my doubts , we shall see.

My dad is an economist and worked as accounting group leader and later as financial group leader too at a construction company. After he'd become self-employed he worked as financial auditor. He met his wife and my mom at the university. She's also an economist, but she later chose to study pedagogy and become a teacher at high school where she taught economy related subjects. Later she was appointed as principal at a newly found vocational HS. Now they're both pensioners, still working part time.

I chose the same profession as them, and now I'm on the path to become a financial auditor too. I don't like this prospect very much though, I'd rather stick with financial controlling and business software.

Otherwise, my family line is absent of geeky persons, but the environment might account for it rather than individual traits.

Yeah, my family is a stereotypical "will produce AS" bloodline. My neices are AS and Autistic.

My grandpa on my mom's side worked in construction, he was an aircraft engineer in the army during WW2, he boiled sugar & was a farmer before that.
My grandma on my mom's side did some farming & was/is a homemaker.
My uncle on my mom's side was in the navy & drowned before I was born.
One of my aunt's on my mom's side is public school elementary teacher.
My other aunt on my mom's side works in retail.
One of my cousin's on my mom's side does some kind of tax/finance stuff for a company.
Another cousin on my mom's side is a secretary for a small insurance agent.
Another cousin on my mom's side is an elementary teacher but she was an assitant manager at the movie theater before that.
Another cousin on my mom's side is a nurse.
My last cousin on my mom's side is some kind of crane operator for offshore industry & he's also a wannabe techno DJ & he released a CD.

My grandpa on my dad's side was in the arm for WW2 & I'm not really sure what else he did.
My grandma on my dad's side was a homemaker.
One of my uncles on my dad's side is some kind of caterer for a hotel.
My other uncle on my dad's side is some kind of chemical engineer.
My aunt on my dad's side works for some kind of insurance agency for businesses
One of my cousins on my dad's side has a degree in journalism & she works at the library & wants to be a writer.
I'm not sure what my other two cousins on my dad's side do.

I'm an only child.

To the OP: Who are you quoting in your post? Just curious. To answer the question, my mother was an artist and composer of lyrics and music. My father taught at an Engineering college, and later he opened a television repair shop. He could literally take a television apart and put it together again. My family is composed of artists, eccentrics, and writers, mostly.

Some netherlands guy named Paul Cooijmans , he does his own research.

My fraternal grandfather survived the war (WW II) as the only one of his family just because he wasn't good enough to be taken to the front... Ironically, the less abled are allowed to have offspring.

My maternal grandfather was a person with some kind of mental illness, I never saw him, I only know how he looked from photos. My grandmother chose him because his parents had a grocery shop and they were Kraut (German) by nationality. She, herself, was regarded as somewhat being a "pariah" of her family because of her eccentricities.
