Do you think the idea of Aspergers is really going to go away after the change, and if so, how long it will take, and if not, what will happen to the idea?

10 years. The public has a very short term memory. They forgot about aids. I seem to always be reminding people of old technology I love. How long ago did the dvd replace VHS? People have even started to forget about the 9 years of tyranny under the former Prime Minister. Liberal media indeed...

So, I don't think it will take long. It took about 10 years for people to even know what Asperger's is.

Yeah, 10 years ago the "big" thing was ADD/ADHD

Who knows what it will be in 2021, maybe some variation on schizophrenia.
All depends on what big pharma wants to push.

In 2001? Yeah, it was. When I was little nobody knew what ADD even was. It was called "minimal brain dysfunction" until the early 90's. Around the year 2000 they changed the term from ADD to ADHD.

Big pharma never pushed ADHD - the majority of stimulant prescriptions are for older formulations that have multiple generic brands available (which is to say, no real money there). Big pharma never pushed Asperger's either, because there's no medication for it...so no money there, either.
