Is it just me, or is it a whole lot less akward to talk to people over Xbox? (Or PSN/Steam) Is it the same case with you guys?

You should have put this under Games and Video Games. Anyways, to answer your question, it depends on what I'm playing. If it's co-op, it is indeed easier to talk to others. I like telling my teammates that there might be an enemy behind them, or to use a certain gun. In multiplayer, it's hard to get in a word over all the screaming 12-year-olds (yes, I'm talking about you, Modern Warfare 3!).

Not really. I'm still hesitant to say anything to strangers. But I play online with my friends in a private party almost all the time, so I don't have to worry about it.

Oh, I thought it would be more suited for the general section since is really how you talk over line, not so much video games. This encompasses phones also.

I feel alot less awkward in chat lines like IRC.

I don't have an X Box. Besides, I find it easier to communicate on WP.

I've started a few threads akin to this on General, although not specifically to games. Seems appropriate here to me.

Anyway, this is how it works for me, from best to worst:

Asynchronous text (forums, e-mail) > real time text (chat) > face to face > voice communication (phone, VOIP, teamspeak/ventrilo, skype, etc).
