VERY strange AS behavior

One child at my school with AS has an obsession with Anime, including "Hentai" (Anime porn) and seems to watch it during class. He gets insulted and people call him weird. He complains and tells his parents, who go to the school and threaten kids to be more accepting of his Autism. Coming from a kid with aspergers, I'd say that's pretty F'ed up and he shouldn't watch Hentai at school... What do you guys think?

Porn is inappropriate at school. AS doesn't enter into it. As a parent I think the kid's parents are on the shady side for not realizing this for one, and for two allowing a young kid to watch porn in the first place. How old is this kid? Throwing the AS card at school on this one is just plain bull caca.

If you are in class with this kid and are exposed to his porn against your will then you have a case for sexual harassment. Not to mention the school could get into a whole heap load of trouble. I don't think the right to watch porn is covered anywhere under the ADA or IDEA assuming you're in the US. Porn isn't even allowed in university computer labs, at least openly.

Tell your principal as well. This really truly is out of line. It's not about the disability, and it's not about freedom of speech either. If my child told me what you have just told me, I'd be down there at the school raising holy you know what and I am by no means a prude.

No. He watches it during class. At school. The porn he watches isn't "regular" porn, it's very disturbing... I'm not describing it.

Strange? I don't know if it's really all that strange for a kid that age, with or without AS to be curious. But I'm not so sure it's just that.

Doesn't belong in school though, and AS is no excuse for it. There are lines that should never be crossed regardless of disability.

It doesn't sound much like curiosity for him. Sounds like an obsession. He should NOT be exposing other kids to it in school, and just shouldn't be watching anywhere, much less there.

You want to wake him up a little? Do a search on the Internet. I remember a story recently about a bunch of high school kids who were sexting each other, and ended up being charged with distribution of child pornography. Exposing minors to pornography IS a chargeable offense in many places, even if you're a minor yourself. Don't know if it'll make an impression on him but it's worth a try.
