One of my friends told me that aspies tend to hate the colour yellow. I've always hated it, but I used to think it was due to it being an ugly colour, not because of my aspie-ness. My friend told me it had to do with sensory issues, but I'm not sure. What do you think? :D

Depends on what kind of yellow. Like bright fluro yellow i like, but the yellow of the emotecons frive me crazy...
Theyre like lill simpsons people...

I personally like more girlier colours like pinks and purple although blue i my fave. I think really colours are just up to what appeals to the brain the most....
if i wasnt arguing with my "friend" this would be a perfect topic to talk about with him...

Maybe aspies are more likely to think that the color yellow is ugly. I know from some studies that a yellow room is the worst room to put a baby because they found babies cried in them more. Also the studies say that yellow is the most difficult color for the human brain to process. So aspies, with visual sensitivities, would probably hate it.

No.

I don't like bright lights, no matter the color. Sunlight off the pavement or glass hurts (it probably hurts everyone though, but I get migraines from it). I doubt it has anything to do with AS or AD.

One shade of yellow once made me nauseous from the taste.

Of course, that was synesthesia. Mostly, I have nothing against yellow.

Actually, I like most shades of yellow, but I hate egg yolk yellow, and one or two other shades, including certain mustardy shades. I even had a yellow bedroom twice, by choice, each time with a two-tone gold rug. I hate pink clothes, pink walls, and pink decorations, but don't mind pink flowers. Some shades of red are great with me, but others are awful. I also don't like lavender walls, but that's because I had to share a room with my older sister for many years, and the walls were painted lavender because that was the color she wanted. Having to be surrounded by someone else's color choice for years eventually made me hate lavender. It took years after that, before I would buy a lavender top. Once I had my own room I picked a nice shade of bright yellow for my walls, but it was not too bright.

Enjoy your own color preferences, and remember, we on the spectrum are all:

A Different Drummer

If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
However measured or far away.

Interesting question - I've rarely ever owned anything yellow

not too fond of 'dark' yellow (the emoticon colour)- even looking at the emoticon background makes me feel a bit nauseous ! the one I've used most is the one that turns pink  even though I don't feel that shy seeing it turn pink makes me smile. How odd is that?

paler yellow is fine but in small quantities

rust/ochre/umber/orange I also find hard to deal with, unless there is some green around nearby.

So yes my reactions to canary yellow are generally not good.

I like yellow. I'm drawn towards bright visually stimulating colours in general. But I couldn't have them as a desktop/website background or anything, for my retinas sake.

I have owned 3 yellow cars since 1980, so I guess No, I don't hate yellow.

But then, as the driver of yellow cars I don't have to look at them, other drivers do. And if yellow is annoying, then it means other drivers can see my yellow car more easily in wet weather.

Anyway, I don't wear yellow clothes, except as safety clothing. And I don't have yellow carpet, walls, or ceilings, or furniture.

Just yellow cars. And a yellow spray jacket for safety while walking along the street in the rain.

But I like bananas, and they are yellow.

I like yellow. My first car was a 1977 yellow Mustang T-top convertible. I drove it from 1980 until around 1984 when I garaged it. Today I start it up about once a month. I try to keep it looking like new---it is a deep bright yellow.

I don't mind yellow in flowers but I'm not too keen on curtains or walls in yellow or orange either.

It makes me nauseated.

I'm linking an NT buddy to this page.
He recently told me I was the only person on Earth who cared that the Simpsons are yellow.
