Hey guys so i have been reading more about meditation and out of the body experiences(for the past 3 days with an intense focus) which are both related,
i also found out that when you reach a deeper state of meditation you can experience strange things like talking to people who have died or people that you simply look up to.
I am so afraid that my spirit might contact demons in it's trip to the stars or that i know might wake up in the middle of the night not being able to move and have some dark spirit arround me or something.(sleep paralysis).

So i don't dare to sleep or meditate anymore, though meditation is an interest of mine and i find spiritual enlightenment very important since i have been into basic meditation for almost all my life, it's just that i'm afraid to go deeper.

I don't dare to turn off the lights/close my eyes for example. Update:i am afraid of every sound, door etc.. My imagination is f*****g with me.(for once i wish i didn't have aspergers) i'm all alone sitting in the living room with all light on becoming psychotic. Someone help me please

I don't take any drugs and i'm completely healthy.
Could this be related to my Aspergers and what can i do?
Anyone else of you guys into spirituality and such.

Here is a video Shane Dawson just posted as i was trying to go to sleep again but it just confirmed my fear(i find it also awkward that he comes out with this just as i am experiencing this)

PS.Sorry for my poor spelling but i'm freaking out right now.

Thanks, Chris.

I don't really know what to say.

But I wanted to post to encourage you to sleep. Sleep is very important and if you suffer severe lack of sleep it is very bad for you.

Please try to relax and sleep tonight.

Perhaps goto the doctor tomorrow?

Please also stop researching these things that are scaring you.

Heres what I usually do when I'm having bad sleep:

Watch a lighthearted comedy tv show or film before going to bed, it takes your mind off any worries. :)

I'm confused about what kind of researching you are doing?

I meditate on a regular basis. There are many different kinds of meditation so it would be helpful to know what kind and where your are learning it from.

I am a Therevada Buddhist so my main meditation is Vipasana or Insight meditation and I've reached very deep states that lead to rapture and the 'knowing /seeing' of the emptiness or the everything. It's not scary, it's very calm and beautiful and lively and energizing at the same time. I also work with Samadhi which is obtaining deep states of concentration, not a stretch for Aspies to work with, took to it like a fish to water, my non-aspie friends were actually jealous how easy it was for me.

But I will say this, when you go deeply into this path and meditate for a long time you do start to break down habits and thoughts that you once perceived as solid show themselves as moving and always changing. Impermenance becomes real and understanded on deep levels. This will be scary to some people, a lot of people actually.

But for me I took to it quickly and didn't find it as frightening as others I know because of my Asperger traits, I guess I'm already used to seeing things beyond the norm so to me I felt more comfort by it as now a group of people were actually seeing things the way I was, you know? It's like it broke down the barrier/difference between what was normal for me and what was normal to my friends as we were now all in new territory together. For the first time ever I didn't feel like the only one in the room who didn't 'get it'.

If you haven't tried Insight meditation yet, I would recommend it as it's a grounding meditation that helps you get in touch with your body and it's reality and see the reality of your thoughts, which has been key for me and my Aspie son in being able to function in this world.

Good luck and pm me if you want a link to the Sangha that I belong to, there are talks and guided meditation on there that can help you if you want to know more.

And SLEEP, you will do so much harm to yourself if you deprive yourself of sleep!! !! Sometimes I will do a simple bodyscan meditation to fall asleep, like the kind they do in yoga, while using visualization of being somewhere that is calming to you.

Christopher, I think you need to learn how to ground and shield. This should help. I have to be honest, though. I do know about such things, and if you were one of my students we'd be having a serious talk right about now. Your fear is running away with you. You are welcome to talk to me about it, but fair warning. I don't do fluff bunny and I do not hesitate to recommend a psychiatrist if I feel it's warranted.
