I am so stressed out at the moment and I really believe its from asking for support! I feel at this stage it just adds to an already stressful life. I have spent most of last school year in meetings and half of this year and to be honest it has not been helpful.

Or else my expectations are far to high or I am just misunderstanding what support means!

It really depends. The only people I ever really go to for support are really close friends who I know I can trust to not to disclose any of my secrets to others. I don't want to worry my family with any of that, and groups made specifically for support just don't seem like my idea of what can help with really personal issues.

It's not exactly the same, but I had to go for a different sort of therapy during the 3rd grade before my mother got fed up with them and had me and my siblings homeschooled. Because of one incident where we'd had our recess taken away from us because we were too loud during lunch(I didn't realize we'd all be grouped together and thought that, because I was quiet, I would not be punished), I'd drawn a particularly violent picture of me stabbing my teacher. I wasn't planning on showing it to her, and I would have never done anything to hurt her, but I couldn't get my anger out in any other way, and they had reason to be concerned.

Any way, I guess for this therapy they tried to get me to put my emotions into drawings. I never really drew anything. maybe for a number of reasons; that I might have thought drawing at all was wrong; that it was an isolated incident; or that it was too personal to do in front of some therapist I didn't even know and who gave off the impression it was just their job and nothing more.

I dont know Ireland at all

but my experiences in New Zealand have been very very disappointing

Personally I'm guessing it may be best to give up on the morons..... for your own mental health

I have tried to find help and keep coming up with nothing-an NT coworker tried to help me and after about an hour gave up trying to help he as it was frustrating for him and he commented if he was getting that frustrated trying to find help he could imagine what it was like for me to try and find help.

I absolutely relate to this. I feel like I've spent the last 17 years of my life looking for support. People tend to assume that because I am intelligent I don't need support, and no matter how clearly I try to explain my needs I receive nothing. Maybe there simply are no services out there.

Yesterday I went to see my community psychiatrist (who I get to see once every 6 weeks). I tried to express that I am not getting the support that I need, I even said those exact words and that things are desperate. Despite her ability to refer me to a community social worker or psychologist she didn't.

I am only just getting by. I've felt that way most of my life. I need to keep looking for support, but feel beaten down and more desperate every time I fail.

When younger i trained as a telephone lifeline counsellor.... bullied during group training and not defended by group facilitator, the impact poisoned training FOR EVERYONE and the facilitator slowly fell apart soon after

Bullied by sponser in 12 step program

family doctor becomes hyper and defensive and a pain in the ass when I pay for my 15min sheep drench

I've been bullied by lots of school teachers in my adult life. Many people I've hired like real estate agents, lawyers, trademen.... have treated me badly to the point I actively avoid business. At least now I know whats going on with these people

I attended various government paid programs and courses to try and heal my life, but it was over 2 years ago and without the awareness of ASD, it was all a waste of time, going around in circles going nowhere

Now, with the awareness of ASD affecting my life, still nothing appealing appears on my horizon

The only glimmer of hope is maybe getting a legal right to medicate due to my difficulties.

I think we will be continually offended by our world..... best to just be in this world but not of this world, internet, play station, music, sex, Jesus, Hari Krishna's, fluffy pets, oddball friends, surfing and weed our our only friends.

Old Indian saying: if you do not want to be bitten by tigers or trampled by elephants, do not go to places where they live
