I starting out my early childhood as being dreadful at sport. When I was 8 I can remember being in a 100 yard sprint and I was only ran about 60 yards and a bad last as the first runner hit the finish line. I do work had as my clumsy running gait do not help me. But with much work by aged 16 at high school I did finally get further up in the field and finish a third or something and bring home a few ribbons much to my Dad's delight who believed unlike myself sport was the be all and end all of life.

How did you fare at sport.

I could not play in any team sport or anything that needed hand-eye coordination. I was too slow and too clumsy. That's why I specialized in solo endurance sports such as marathon running, cross-country skiing, and bicycling :)

I never excelled in sports because I'm lazy. But you should see my collection of "Participant" ribbons!

This sounds like me when I participated in my elementary schools' Junior Olympics in fifth grade. I did almost the exact same thing, to the laughter of all of the other kids who were watching.

On the other hand, I was really good at riding my bike, and later on, I used a skateboard for transportation. I was actually fairly good at riding a skateboard, and it helped me to gain coordination, balance, and timing, of which, I was lousy at. I'm still pretty awful at throwing a ball at specific targets, though.
