Does anyone else prefer animals to humans? I feel like my cats understand me and like I understand them better than I do any humans.

I used to prefer the company of animals to that of humans, and there are many times that I still do. Animals, be they pets or for example birds in a park, make for less complicated company than human beings, who tend to have a lot of pretentious expectations.

Among animals, I find that communication is distilled to a purer, less diluted form. Especially the absence of unnecessary words to express concepts with, is something that appeals to me very much.

I love your cat!
I love my cats too! I have three of them and we have a good communication, because I learn their sounds and apply my words to their sounds. It is said, that cats know like 100 different sounds, because they do not loose their "baby"-language.

Yup. People are horrible and too filled with guile and deceit. Animals aren't that way.

I prefer the company of animals over the company of people.

Oh my goodness, if that were my kitty, my face would be all up in that belly giving it kisses. >.>

I feel more empathy for the plight of animals, especially domesticated animals subjected to abuse and neglect, or those in shelters, than I do for humans. Every time that Sarah McLachlan commercial with the abused shelter animals comes on I make noise and avoid looking at it because it has made me cry in the past. However when the UNICEF commercial comes on, I'm indifferent. I'm a terrible person.

About the UNICEF commercial, you are by no means a terrible person. I think that is very human. There's a good chance the thing is probably preachy.

I get along with animals much better than humans. We understand each other better.

I can't watch the humane society commercials, it hurts my heart too much.

For my ninth birthday party, my mom invited every girl in my grade to skate up and down our street followed by cake and icecream. They all had a great time, but I ended up hiding in the garage with my dog most of the time. It was far too loud, and I felt bad that my dog couldn't come out and have fun too (because some of the girls didn't like dogs). Much to my poor mom's disappointment I told her I'd rather spend my party in there with my best friend.

I've learned to like people a lot more as I've grown older though. I'll never stop loving my pets, but I've come to recognize the things I love about them in other people as well.

I prefer animal and human company equally. I have always easily understood animals. Animals love me as well. My mom always wonders why the cat pays more attention to me than to anyone else in the family. My friends' cats and dogs also love me for some reason.

I get along pretty well with animals since they don't make any demands of me, many animals are just content with sitting about in your company, but I like dogs the best: they really live for the moment, even when they have no conception of time they are willing to sit down and spend what seems to them an ethernity doing every, or no time at all.

Animals tend to attack me.

Had a dog and a horse though. Both were my best friends. They didn't attack me (some of the rare few).

Animals also tend to attack me, also. I tend to lose control of any sitution involving dogs very fast. However, I do like animals, and definetly prefer their compny to that of humans at certain times.
