I noticed when I took the aspie quiz that one of the questions asks if you have trouble telling time. I have always had a hard time with this (as well as telling left from right) and I had no idea that it was an AS trait. I'm assuming that because it was on the quiz, it is an AS thing..

For me it kind of seems like I just don't have the focus. I want to be able to look at the clock and see the numbers like on a digital clock. I have to stare at the kind with hands for like 3 minutes and count by 5's to figure out what time it is. Seems like it is very easy for others, though. My husband and family seems to think I'm pretty ret*d for not being able to read it instantly.

Does anyone else have trouble telling time?

LOL! that is literally exactly how I felt! When I made me family take the test to compare scores (I got 166/200) and they all got NT reaults which made sense to me.. but when that question appeared they all laughed and were like "omg I thought it was just you, must be an aspie thing" and so that is how I felt. When I try to read clocks with hands I have to stare forever and count the numbers. I was like short hand is hour because it is a short word and minute is the long hand because it is a long word and then I would count, 5, 10 or whatever and it frustrates me. All the numbers and lines get jumbled up in my brain. I always use my phone to tell me the time. I also don't comprehend phrases like "half past three" or "a quarter till" I don't understand why people don't just say the number or exact time. :/ and I am 22 so my family thinks I am ret*d and it makes me sad.

I don't have problems with analogue but I prefer digital. I don't really like analogue clocks or watches that have no or few numbers because those take me longer to read.

Also some analogue clocks tick loudly and annoy me. I actually have one in the room I'm in right now that I'm thinking of taking the battery from because it's early in the morning and quiet and the tick is so loud. I have digital clocks in my bedroom, one of which is an atomic clock that is supposed to set itself and shows the time, month, day, day of the week, and indoor temperature. That is very helpful since it's not unusual for me to forget what day of the week it is.

Yes sometimes. I can read them but I have to stare at them for a short while first to figure it out lol

I also have trouble telling left from right so it really is no good asking me for directions, especially suddenly if you need to make a quick turn as it takes me a few minutes to figure out with is left and right and by the time I have gotten that far people are beeping their horns already or we have driven past the turning lol.

I think the OP means do we have a poor sense of time. Apparently I do.

EDIT: prefer digital watches. Can't tell jack sh** with the circle clocks with moving hands. Well more accurately, can't tell the time if there isn't numbers written on them. Which some watches (I've seen them) are like. not sure how you can tell the time, at best an approximation.

EDIT 2: basically I can tell

but can only get an approximation of time for

I cannot tell what the exact time is with the first one, but have a better idea than with the second. It looks like its somewhere around 6 or 7 minutes past 10.

With the second I can see its twenty to something but whether it is twenty to 4 or 5 is another question lol. I think twenty to 5 but I had to sit and figure that out lol

As a child, I had dificulty with analog clocks, and with left/right. Also, for some reason, I couldn't ever get East and West right on a map until I was in high school (North and South were easy)

It'd be a little easier to tell if the image weren't overexposed, but I like the above watch - it's 3:10 AM
