I sometimes visit this local breakfast place for some cheap and filling breakfast. I probably go a few times a month. So not much of a regular. But the people working there recognize me. It makes me feel so autistic. Does it make you autistic to go to the same restaurant a few times a month?

Do you sit in the same place every time, and get annoyed if someone is in "your" seat?
Do you order the same food/drinks every time?

Anyone visiting a shop on a regular basis will become known to the staff.

I do order the same food every time and sit in roughly the same place, but I couldn’t care less if someone else is sitting there.

Normally being a regular means you get better service and are appreciated.

You probably have an undercurrent of aggro. Unless you have annoyed them don't take it personally.

You like what you like. It should not be any problem - they should know you what you like. Do you make an effort to smile? Be friendly and open.

You should not fear doing anything you like, that brings pleasure and comfort.

I kind of make an effort to be invisible, but not outright rude. Don’t like being recognized by people.

Not really. If that was enough to be autistic all regulars would be, therefore autism would be really common.
People go to restaurants repeatably because they like it/like the taste/are too lazy to cook/don't have time/it's on their way to/from work/it's cheap/it's near their home/it's convenient. No big deal.
And ordering the same food every time just means they like the specific food or dislike other foods in the restaurant.
Also sitting in the same spot is normal - people have their favorite spots, for example "a seat by the window, in a corner so you can see everything but not many people walk directly by your table".

If you were coming there everyday, ordering the same food it would be odd. But as long as it's just a few times a month - it's normal.

Yeah. I sit right by the till, so I can see when my food is ready. I generally get the same food because I enjoy it and it’s cheaper. Unfortunately people comment on me getting the same food which I find weird.

People shouldn't comment on you ordering the same thing. You're a customer, you're entitled to order what you want.

I don't think it's an autistic thing to visit the same restaurant several times a month. I know an NT who takes his kids to the same restaurant for a breakfast every Saturday morning, even though there are plenty of other restaurants in town. He just loves this restaurant, and so do his kids, and the staff in the restaurant have gotten to know him as a regular customer. Both the kids are NTs too, but one of them wants the same breakfast every time they go into this restaurant. One time they hadn't had what she wanted, and she had a bit of a meltdown because of it (she's 6).

Being a regular at a restaurant is common enough behavior that we have the expression "a regular."

Many restaurants and cafes have regulars. There's a woman at mine who knows pretty much all the regulars by name. A lot of people like the food and drinks they already know they like.

Lots of people are regulars at restaurants. My mother and I got to a restaurant about once a week to spend some together. My mother doesn't mind it, but sometimes it makes me feel weird when the servers know your name and you order the same things most of the time.

This sort of thing is more “NT” than “autistic.”

I order fish n chips at every restaurant. I don't feel that it makes me look autistic. I think it makes me look like a person who likes fish n chips.

I heard they're going to put this in the DSM 6. Also, people who shop at Target.
