I saw a show about people who had won the lottory. It made me wonder if people with aspergers
would spend their money differently then NT.There was one individual who I think had a lot of "aspie traits" and he had built a "house" for his 10 cats.

I can think of some things I would love to have(horse, swimming pool without chlorine...and I know that I would want to help many of my family that are on disability. The question is ....what other "good" could I do with the money? How much would I keep for myselfish "wants" and how much put towards a more noble cause...(like an aspie supported business)Idealy,it would be great to come up with seed money to start businesses in several areas(tech, art and literature, etc)that would eventually sustain itself and pay back into the general funds for other businesses......

sadly,I dont play the lottery,(I hate going into stores and have only bought one a few times.)However, after seeing this show,I am considering starting(yeah,I know the odds.)

Anyone else given this any thought?

I would pay off the loans on my parents' house and then buy myself a Mercedes 350, 500 or 600 of some kind. I would take about 10% of the money and give to some AS fund. The rest I would put in stocks or on a bank account.

Depends on how much I win. If I win 1 million $ or € I could do all that. If I win 1 million SEK I would only be able to pay off the loans and buy the 350 Mercedes.

Charity would have to be Cancer Research (sorry) - my aunt died from cancer. I would set up a website on Asperger's and Autism, like this one. Then I would save the rest up and slowly spend it on books (especially mathematics and medicine) and I would pay for my Mother to go to a luxury spa for a week (after all the stress that I've put upon her due to my AS!), and then a new house for my Mother and I would take up a lot of the money.

(That paragraph was not in any logical order)

I would buy a town in Iowa and found Aspieville, but I'd give it a much better name ;).

I had a friend whose father was a lotto nut and studied it so much he actually managed to win twice. They were of course smaller lotteries of not more than about $100,000 each. But still, he studied the odds and had his secret "methods" and won more times than anyone would think possible.

I think one of his methods was only playing the smaller lottos since the probabilities of winning were of course greater than in those multistate lottos.

My hubby and I have this conversation most Saturdays, what we would do if we won the lottery - we rarely get a ticket, but it's fun to imagine.

I wouldn't want to win a lot, millions, because it would do my head in, deciding what to do with it; how much to keep for myself, how much for my family, would it spoil them.
I don't think a lot of money necessarily makes people happy, so long as you have enough for the basics, food, home, but more money for books and craft items would be great.

I think I would give some to a charity which builds wells for people who have no clean water to drink. So many people in very poor countries don't even have this basic thing, which is unbelievable in this day and age. Wouldn't it be a great feeling to be able to help people have better lives.

I'd commission a narrowboat and go on permanent tour around the canals and rivers of the UK. At the very most a decent 60' narrowboat would cost me £120,000. I'd equip it with 'roll mat' style solar panels, a wind turbine and a diesel WhisperGen unit ( http://www.whispergen.com ).

I'd invest the rest and give a percentage of the resulting income to charities: Cats Protection, the British Diabetic Association, the WWF, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth. That way they get a regular income every month rather than a lump sum.

It's also tempting to give a small amount to each of the people I really care about - not so much that they'd feel obliged or guilty, but enough to make a difference. Let's say £5000 each to my ten best friends.

I would create a Windows compatible operating sytem(using Python and Assembly language ) from the ground up that can fit on a floppy disk.

Buy the company that created a mini-coope with an electric motor that draws power from a small petrol engine, much like a diesel train does. It is much better the hybrids it is bear fast and does 70 mpg. Would do the same with a 4x4 SUV and but bigger more powerful motors into the wheels and replace the petrol engine with a diesel one.

I would also create an organisation that help Aspies get the ideal jobs and help employers to realise that Aspies are not NT with learning difficulties.

I would build a small town in the Caribbean called England World. Once built, you would hardly know that you have left London.

Will it have Routemasters? I'd purchase the old Buses for the town. :D

On a more serious note, I'd buy myself a two, or even a three story home. I'd buy all of my furnature from Ikea. The flooring would be all Prego wood, except for in my 6 Bedrooms and Bathrooms. My Vintage Double Decker would occupy three out of six of my Bedrooms. One of the three remaining Bedrooms would be a Gym, one would be an Office and one would be an Art Studio. I'd take two trips to London, and I'd donate $10,000 to Wrong Planet.

No no! no! We would have diesel/electric bendy-busses with special ramps so the old and the disabled can use them.
