Edited Volume on Aspie Culture
My name's Jes, and I teach English and Cultural Studies at the University of Regina. I've just put out a call-for-papers for a book of essays on the representation of Asperger's and the autism spectrum in popular culture, called "Bright Lines: Culture on the Autistic Spectrum." I'm looking for both scholarly and creative work that discusses life on the autistic spectrum, as well as essays that discuss popular culture. The book is designed for both a general and a scholarly audience, so I'm looking for creative and autobiographical work in addition to academic essays. Topics could include blogs/vlogs, literature and cinema, TV (Big Bang Theory, Community, Bones, Criminal Minds), Intense World Theory, and the neurodiversity movement.
If you're interested, send me an abstract (500 words) of what you'd like to write about. My email is jbattis at gmail dot com.
