Does anyone here have any experience they want to share with weighted vests, blankets, etc?

Also is there a way to search withing this group for similar discussions?

I'd write more but all I want to do now is crawl inside a blanket wrapped as tight around me as possible. I don't know why my AS feels worse some days than others but it has felt that way for the last 5 days.

I have a weighted vest but for fitness purposes(burn so many calories going on a 10 mile power walk wearing a 10 KG weighted vest). I guess it feels quite comforting, but you'd probably find yourself starting to feel some pain if you just sat there wearing a weighted vest, unless it was only a couple of KG.

That and it increases your blood pressure and cause unnecessary strain etc.

Never had any experience with a weighted blanket but I can see why the idea appeals to you.

I love my weighted blanket. It's great. I'm currently refusing to get out of because that'd mean I'd need to move it to the couch to wrap up in it again.

I never had one. When I was a kid, I used to lay under my mattress.

But you know those vests they put on for an x-ray?

I love those!

You know, I never actually thought about how comfortable those are until I read this. I think I am usually too busy convincing myself that the impending x-ray won't obliterate my DNA.

I like to wear my cargo vest with lots of things in the pockets. It gives me a sense of security.

I like my blanket that is not weighted but verrry heavy. It helps me fall asleep.

When walking outside I have realized I feel most comfortable from the weight of my back pack with the usual weight is filled my things. But I don't have to wear it. Sunglasses feel the best to me especially with ear buds.
I also like those x-ray blankets. I have never tried any othrr weighted blanket and I think I would still like sunglasses better. I wear the sunglasses inside at times too. I often don't like coats and sleeves (not always, and I will wear them) and prefer my arms free so I am not sure if I would like it unless maybe if it is small.

I am on a disaster response team, and my 3 day pack weighs 35-40 pounds, because of some of the equipment I cary to make it easier in the field. I am also about the only person on the team that would leave it on instead of taking it off when we stop for a few minutes.

At the top of the page, on the right below the advertisement banner is a "Google Custom Search" box. Just type in "weighted blanket" or similar, which will return pages with either word in, with pages that have both words near the top. You can also use the regular Google and type "weighted blanket site:wrongplanet.net".

Won't searching in that search everything online and not only in this group? I want to search only for discussions on specific topics.

Never mind. I guess I only saw the advertisments and then that it is a white background so didn't realize that it was searching only this forum.

Thanks for answering.

I followed a tip I read somewhere and tried wearing ankle weights. In addition to the continuous pressure that seems to give me more confidence, it makes me walk on my heels instead of on my toes like I usually do. I usually even wear them to bed. They just relieve anxiety.

I've also found that I can walk much longer distance if I'm wearing a heavy backpack. Whatever works, I guess.

Maybe I should get a backpack and fill it with beans or rice or something. I will have to look at the thrift store for a backpack next time I go. I never thought of getting or making one. All I have now is a cloth bag I found at the thrift store that I filled with rice. It's not a purse or luggage. Not sure what it is called but it is the size of my lap. I don't have any scales meant for measuring things and the ones meant for people say it weighs somewhere around 13 pounds but it doesn't feel like that is accurate. It feels a lot lighter than that.

The one I've got is designed to hold a laptop, a big camera, a bunch of accessories and stuff, which adds up. I'm not sure how much it weighs, though.

Glad I'm not the only one!

I did it too and my sibling had to lay on top of it, that I got really "squeezed".
I also had a backpack of 12 pound weight in it (I did put it on a scale from time to time), with which I used to walk outside and the weight made me more "grounded" and I was less anxious outside.

So yours has a lot of pockets as opposed to one big one? How big is the backpack?
