We don't quite know yet, but genetics does most certainly has something to do with it. Asperger's syndrome appears to "run" in families.

Autism spectrum disorders seems to be genetic. If you look for information online or in some scientific newspapers, you may learn more about what genes are suspected.
Since autism seems to "run in families", the fact that it is genetic is likely to be exact.
But if you ever read that it is a psychiatric disorder or something like that, it is not true.

There is suggestions out there that Autism is primarily in 90%+ of cases being genetic-based with multiple genes involved, no single gene factor.

I've never thought of that. Interesting. I definitely think it's genetic. No one in my family, except for me, has an official diagnosis. I see symptoms in many of my relatives, though. I think if all of their personalities and quirks were to mix together, they would be a person with AS!
