Do you have sensitive hearing?

I hear the smallest sound of a buzzing bug and I have to get up and check out where it's coming from and kill said bug. Which is why I'm up at my computer at nearly 1:30 in the morning! This time not a roach but a small beetle type bug no bigger than the size of a pencil tip.

I have fairly sensitive hearing to the point that I have to wear earplugs to sleep at night or my cat's breathing keeps me up.

I have very sensitive hearing in the high frequency range. So much that a TV left on a blank screen emits an irritating tone that apparently only I can hear. If Im in someones house and I hear the TV I will usually turn it off because they already think it is.

Yep. All of the above.

I live near on a hill and hear the city below 24/7. My sense of smell is like a dogs though.

only sometimes. I'm not sure if it is sensitivity or more that they piss me off. Engines and sirens are horrible sometimes. Sometimes unexpected sounds create a pressure in my head that i would say is not painful but still horrible.

i think i do have good hearing but nothing compared to some people. It is not usually a problem for me

As do I. I can't stand high-pitched sounds like certain noises or whispering.

I am an NT, and my hearing is more sensitive than most folks, but not so sensitive that the noise of a beetle's wings, or the sound of our dog's breathing will keep me up at night. Or perhaps I get tired enough, and sleep is precious enough that I manage to sleep anyway. Many sounds that others don't seem notice, can be painful for me. Sudden unexpected very loud sounds can overwhelm me. I have trouble with focus when there are conversations going on around me. It is difficult for me to tune out adjoining noises and focus on what I am trying to concentrate on. I also utilize certain noise, or certain music for it's stimulation. An auditory stim if you wish.

yes I do. Loud noises hurt my ears so bad that I have to plug my ears I even cried at a concert due to it being loud. I even hear multiple noises at once which then causes me to get wicked distracted.

I have sensitive hearing. I want to share what happened to me in school once---I failed a hearing test (not because I couldn't hear, but because I was hearing in a sensitive way). They put the headphones on me and asked about the tone they were making through the headset. The nurse would ask, "Tell me when you hear a tone, and tell me which ear you hear it in." Well, I heard the tone, but with both ears. Even though the tone was only in the left side, I was also hearing it in my right ear. So they had to evaluate my hearing realizing this. Then I passed.

Extremely sensitive hearing. I can hear almost anything, and even the smallest sounds can bother me. I can hear when the TV's on, for example, and it drives me nuts when it's muted but not off. Likewise, I have to have almost everything off in order to sleep at night.

I do however, need a fan on when I sleep. Dead silence bothers me even more.

With me basicly all the senses are amped up Sight, Hearing, Taste, Touch

For the Sight I can see CRT Computer Screens Redraw on 60Hz, in school my computer lab teacher let be change the Refresh rate on the screen. the screen has to be at 72Hz any higher I started it seeing to redraw. I had this problem in High school because they had PCs all before then middle and elementry were Macs.

For Hearing I can hear the Flyback capacitor in TVs admit that the tone when screen is blank. Then also I can hear those pest things like what people plugin for there garden, up were i live Mcdonalds has 1 on each side of the playground for the kids. For me it is the high Frequ. for me but for the low is fine like a train horn or music with alot of bass.

For the taste it is also amped up. When I do taste simething that may begin to go bad like milk I can taste it. then like at parties I can't have to strong of drinks because I would not beable to taste the flavoring all I can taste is the liquor. That will come in good for if anyone tries to get me drunk at my buddy's party.

For Touch when I was young I had to go through physical therapy to help my since of touch to in a way toughen up. From what I heard from my mom is that when I was born the pain sensor were very close to the skin.

Yes, years ago I built a small corkboard room (with sliding doors) to reduce sounds. I realized that even corkboard would not dampen all sounds.

Today am aware that there are office partitions available which are specially designed to try to reduce sounds a little.

I purchased some sound reduction ear protectors also which are designed to reduce sound levels.

Became aware of the idea of bone conduction (of sounds) and the limitations of good yet simple measures to dampen sounds.

Reducing sounds can be challenging.

Yup, I can hear them too. Usually, it doesn't bother me, but if it's muted, holy crap...

You seem to have a lot of the other extreme sensitivities that I have too. Interesting to see I'm not the only person who can see the refresh rate on CRTs.
