First of,Hello.I was browsing these forums and nodding along some posts.I found myself apsie-like before, comparing my F with me (Diagnosed Aspie).I've done online tests about it,and wich confirmed my suspections.I want to tell you about me as objective as I can,and please tell me do you find me aspie,or not (?.)

To begin with,I'll tell my age and sex.Sixteen, and male. Some people find in me this not normal, but I allways keep my arms,or legs twiching, wich is called,i think, "stimming".
I'm very shy and I am afraid of people, thats why I wont come out from my room.(No,no backstory of betrayal,or such,I just find people not predictable enough).Recess times at school kills me,I cant stand company.I enjoy my privacy.I feel very angry about people, who disagree, and tries to "knock out" the obsessions I'm with at the moment. We have and old saying, "Obuolys nuo obels netoli rieda" wich should mean, something like "The apple doesnt fall far from the appletree",I find it completely false, looking at me and my so-called normal parrents.I haven't seen them speak to one another, and I have never seen them in the same room longer than 1 minute (You think this is just a teen cry for help and excuse to be emo/goth/whatever,well its not).I find myself tricky in comunication, and I have a poor clothing taste.I try to dress as "normaly" as I can,but some people find my appeareance "not ordinary".What touches the comunication,I hate being called by my name,I prefer reffering to my classmates to colleagues and I extremely lack consistency,in writing, and speaking.Yeah, and in the comunication topic, sometimes I can't talk about anything else, but my current obsession. And,I will deny any opinion wich is negative to my obsession object.Sometimes I try to improve speech skills in real life, but its too hard to do.For any of you that who would advise me to get a doctor,I instantly reply,I can't afford it,and -oh,yes,I felt suicidal(+self destructive) when my obsession was to find point of life. When I didin't find it I felt very bothered about it and felt very depressed.

I dont know what to add, what would be the keys of checking if I'm AS,or not.

And,sorry for grammar/spelling/whatever,cause EN isnt my birth language (prolly shoulda done this in the beggining)

Please dont "boo!" me away.Thanks.

Don't worry, no one will boo you away! Your symptoms do sound Aspie-like.

Though typically its not really fear of social situations but rather simply an inability to function in them at a normal level (without significant effort).

Basically its not natural :P

But a lot of people with AS go on to develop a social paranoia as well due to the emotionally traumatic events we usually inadvertantly cause when trying to socialize :P

Well, if you're not an Aspie, you've got an awful lot of AS traits. Wouldn't be surprised if you did.

Strong obsessions with topics of interest combined with social awkwardness... I don't know any other condition that matches those symptoms. Depending on how strong they are, I guess you're either Aspie or NT with strong Aspie tendencies.

Go check out a few books on AS from the library. Most of them will be about little kids, written for parents, but you can probably find some for teen/adult Aspies. If the descriptions of poeple with AS click with you, then, when you go for your next physical with your family doctor, mention your concerns to him: "I'm socially awkward, I have obsessions, and I want to know if it might be AS". Do it in writing if you have to--sometimes words just come out wrong when an Aspie uses them... He can get you a referral.

You're 16, so you're still on your folks' medical insurance. It really should pay for an evaluation.

At this point, if you're diagnosed AS, you may be able to get things like extended time on tests, or permission to spend recess in the library, or whatever. And it's usually better to know for sure.

Make sure you get a decent expert, not just a run-of-the-mill psychologist who can't tell AS from BS. If you're obsessed with AS, you may know more than the "expert"; that's normal enough. But if you don't have an AS obsession and you're more knowledgeable than the "expert", you may want to find another opinion...

Try "Freaks, geeks, and Asperger's" which was written by a teenager with AS. Juke Johnson, I think his name was. Google the book title or go to amazon or something. This book may well help. I'm 32 and it helped me understand a LOT of things that I experienced as a teen.

I wrote out a three-page letter to my GP because I KNEW I'd forget something ore it's come out wrong if I didn't. He was very impressed with my knowledge and reasonings, and got me an appointment with a specialist a week later.

What s/he said. And, good luck! And remember you are NOT alone-I was at the EXACT same place as you about 6 months ago- "I'm sure i am but want to know for certain."

I would say yes, you are socially awkward and scared of people it is similar to me. I am scared of being in large groups but usually fine on 1 on 1 or 2 situations.
