Um, what exactly did you mean to do when you just posted this without a comment? "Oh no, we need eye contact to appear assertive which most of us are incapable of?" I think this is more insulting than helpful.

That was more or less ridiculous....I know exactly how to make eye contact but its too uncomfortable for me to do so, not to mention I can't pay attention to what people are saying if I am concentrating on making eye contact as well as not letting the discomfort it causes me get to me.

So you know exactly how to do something, except you can't.

Regardless how ridiculous you think it is, that doesn't make it any less important to everyone else.

Yes, and i know that....so maybe people should be more educated that eye contact is not for everyone

I think you're more likely to convince the public at large that clothes are not for everyone

Well then I guess I just agree to disagree with the public.

Agree with whom?

To agree to disagree both parties have to agree.

Eye contact can be important, and isn't all that hard to learn with practice.

I don't think the problem is the topic so much as it is the source. I mean, "The Art of Manliness," with imagery from what is now basically the dark ages of sexism?

My friends and I used to watch videos from that era for laughs. It's kind of hard to take a site like that seriously.

This, IMHO is a little more credible, and geared toward AS as well.

Umm...you might be the only one trying.

But, by all means use the internet for humorless, serious business.

Are you saying this is a joke then?

And no, I'm not the only one trying. Two other posters here did. Or did you miss that?

Can't something be informative without being humorless?

Well they think eye contact is for everyone correct? I disagree because it doesn't work for me...unless my goal is to feel anxious.

Nice play on the triple negatives there. Correction: None of the three of us took the site seriously. That's pretty clear from the replies. We did however, take your intent seriously. All you did was post two links with no explanation of your intent. Are we supposed to automatically assume whether you're joking or not?

Or did you forget the vast majority of us are Autistic?

The replies shouldn't be a great surprise.

What I'm getting at is you can't agree to disagree with the NT world on this issue. You can certainly disagree, but that doesn't make it any less important to others.

The point (as the articles makes fairly clear) is to be perceived well by others. If you avoid eye contact you give them a signal which may be unintended.
