Flowers for algernon!?!?
I don't know what you thought I meant, but this POPPED into my mind earlier today.
I have been trying to reverse a trend of my short term memory getting worse, etc.... Today, I marveled that it seems to be helping! acetyl-l-carnitine and tyrosine seem to REALLY help daily short term memory, but didn't help with memorizing lists well. SAGE, of all things, seems to complete the picture. If I can stay where I was earlier today, I will be HAPPY!
Does anyone have any more advice?
Steve
Oddly, they don't seem to work for me. Hypnosis tapes ALSO seem to be lacking. HECK, there are a number of people that listed savant skills on this board. Some of mine included:
Ability to do complex math(SOMETIMES the number would just pop into my head, and it was ALWAYS right. Sadly, it wasn't very controllable)
Ability to feel like ANYTHING within 3 feet of me.(I have fought it so long that it often just isn't there)
EXCELLENT event memory complete with bibliography/history.(The bibliography/history is mostly gone) Most of the event memory is there.
Good general memory.(it became only fair).
The ability to detect the correct answer. If I was wrong, I KNEW it.
Interestingly, I could push myself harder than anyone else I knew, mentally AND physically. I RARELY ran, but DID race some people several times, and I just ran faster. When I got home from school, I would study all night on my own things.
Anyway, it would be nice to get that all back, AND keep some of the changes since. I've even toyed with the idea of going back to my old diet. For example, I used to LOVE braunschweiger. The idea of a liver turned me off. I later found that 2-3 problems I later had would never have happened if I kept eating it.
