I was wondering if anyone else has this. It is described as periodic jerking of the limbs that only occurs during sleep. I have had this at least since I was in my early 20's and only now found out that it had a name.
Other than it wakes me at night it does not cause me any difficulties although both of my ex-wives and a couple of ex- girls friends complained that I woke them up thinking there was an earthquake.

Funny you should ask .... I just recently stopped taking meds for this problem. My MD didn't have the formal name, and just prescribed an anti-convulsant. Well, I was getting some very bad side-effects from it, and possible toxicity. My wife has said maybe twin beds we put together, or pull apart if I'm jerking. BTW, mine takes the form of my whole body twitching. My wife says it's as if someone grabs my shoulder, and is trying to wake me up by shaking me. I never notice, and sleep through it. All I know is it's not related to sleep apnea, as I had a sleep-test for that, and was told I breathe fine.

mine is the jerking of the left or right leg and it is bad enough that I have woken myself up on occasion and have been kicked punched and pinched awake by bed partners and told to stop it. Like I could control it!
My soon to be ex-wife told me shortly after I moved out of the bedroom she started to sleep much better.
