I often get "problem solving" dreams often combined with frequent reawakening.

If I get really anxious and conserned about something like say in a video game I get stuck, my mind does not switch off all night until bed. When sleeping(and trying to sleep) my mind goes into complete overdrive, it is like I'm replaying the game over and over again, doing it differently every time until my mind believes that's how to solve it, then I wake up. This will happen frequently all night.

Applying this to the problem, actually solves it. This is also true for real life, I had a programming problem I could not solve during the day. Went to sleep and the dream ran through all possible coding possibilities I have learned, wake up, applied the solution to the problem and solved it.

Gee if it worked for the lottory.

It is like a cursed gift I have I suppose...

Yup. I've had similar experiences.

Last time I was put on an anesthetic, I woke up with visions of trigonometric integrals in my head.

yes, I've had really long dreams about resolving programming problems, very frustrating to wake up realising it was all nonsense. I also had a lottery win dream the other week, similar really.

I have had problem solving dreams as well, for a few different things. It does not always work but if I go to sleep thinking about the problem sometimes I will dream about it and sometimes come across an... "unorthodox" solution my conscious mind may not have come up with

Had similar dreams, but haven't been remembering them lately. It always seems my dreamself figures thing out that I can't. My dreamself will come to a realization of something and communicate it abstractly to me, or that's how it used to work, my dreams are speaking much more clearly now.

:wtg:
I've had programming solutions, complex-patterned floor-tiling tile counts, practical exam solutions, essays in detail ... to name but a few :D (as well as a few computer games cracked)

This is a very common occurrence that applies to a very great many people. I have had this happen to me many times, especially when I was still working as an engineer. Long ago I noticed that I solved most of my problems this way. Too, there are times of the day when many people will find themselves to be more creative than others. For me as a night person, this typically means the hours from midnight 'til 3AM. This is also when I used to do my homework while in college. This is when my problem solving abilities were at their peak.

Oh yes, I have actually (successfully) harnessed the effect as a study tool. Typically when I need to memorize droves of pointless information, such as Art History, I will immerse myself in the data and then go to sleep. The next morning I awaken with most (though I have yet to take a statistical analysis on exactly how much) of the data intact.

When I am involved in more extreme intellectual work where I am wearing myself out on a daily basis mentally, I tend to do this...

Also sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with the need to solve some sort of embarrassment problem such as getting dressed in case someone were to see me naked in bed uncovered...

Waking up to both is actually somewhat similar and both are somewhat irritating...

Not sure if it has to do with autism, but I would say it's definitely got to do with high levels of brain activity which I figure autism spectrum people are likely to have since our brains probably have to work on overdrive explaining why some of us end up as pretty good problem solvers.

I can't say this happens often, but there was one time when I was really focused on a difficult programming problem, had a dream about solving it, woke up, analysed the solution and thought "hey, this could actually work"!

I often have dreams that are sending me clear messages and solutions about things happening in my life.

Been happening a lot recently.
