I had to get this sticker! Lol
Now I just have to figure out how to explain the meaning behind the sticker to my friends if they ask. Haven't told anyone about AS except a couple friends.

I want a sticker or t-shirt with this quote from Alphas:

"I'm not ret*d. I'm autistic. You're ret*d."

Can someone explain the sticker about darkness and blackness? I'm not sure I get it. Maybe it's meant to be interpreted in several ways...

It's a play on the saying "It's always darkest before the dawn" which is supposed to be a message of encouragement and to keep hope even when things seem bleak, because they won’t always be so.

The play on that saying is humorous, because it takes a more literal meaning of when it is darkest. Since it is darkest when it is totally black. The irony is that this completely changes the embedded metaphor, in effect delivering the message more like; It might see tough now, but just wait, it gets worse.

Their's also a great Bob Dylan song "Not Dark Yet". Not that it has anything to do with the sticker. The sticker just minds me of the main lyric, "It's not dark yet but, it's gettin there".

That's quite good and only people who already know about the autism community will get it so it's somewhat subtle too :)

Kind of nervous about people asking about it now. I didn't think about friends asking about it until after I put it on my chair. Lol I feel weird about talking about all this stuff with anyone except for one friend. I told another friend and he pretty much said "bull s***, you don't have aspergers." My mom at least seems pretty supportive.

I've found that it's easier for me to leave hints about stuff rather than flat out saying it. Lol
