I seem to have more than one special interest, with less intensity than some other people's, considering people I met with autism.

The people that I have met were interested in:

PERSON 1: Animals (especially dogs)

PERSON 2: Dictatorship

PERSON 3: Fish

PERSON 4: Movies

PERSON 5: Curious George, Arthur

PERSON 6: Titanic, Franklin

Most of them had just one special interest, I have more than one:

-A band called "Great Big Sea"

-Psychology

-Genetics

-Relatedness

-Cats

-A musician named "Jeremy Fisher"

Does anyone else have more, and less intense interests?

I'm undiagnosed, but I'm interested in a number of things. At any given time, though, I have a "dominant" special interest that trumps everything else. My longtime special interests include transit infrastructure, urban design, technology and baseball; I could spend hours--days even--reading and learning about any of these, and they're kind of cyclical. I might go through a spurt where I'll spend hours upon hours reading about the Interstate Highway System, followed by a spurt where I am obsessed with baseball stadiums. My main one until recently, though, has been technology. Aspergers itself has become my main special interest in recent weeks. :) It's basically all I want to learn about right now.

Yes... It doesn't have to be just one.

I do, I know I 'like' a large number of interests, but right now I focus on one at a time, unless websites count. In that case my special interests would be the music I like, WP, and doodleordie.

I usually have two "Active" interest at a time, one primary (roughly 80% of my time and resources) and one secondary (most of the remaining 20%). These interest last anywhere from 3 months to several years, they seem to change all on their own, often without warning. I literally can be obsessed about something for years and wake up the next day and have only the slightest interest.

However 9 times out of 10 the interest doesn't disappear completely, it simply moves into the background. If I'm channel surfing and come across a former interest I will likely stop on the channel and watch the rest of the program.

My interests were a little more "intense" and "focused" when I was a kid.

Now, they're more scattered and general.

As a kid I was more Aspie-ish. As an adult, it seems I lean more towards ADHD-PI/SCT.

*shrug*
