do i have it? please help!
Hi i dont know if i have aspergers or not. I think i have it cuz i have terrible social skills ( i have 2 friends, i hate looking people in the eye, im akward and never know what to say). I almost always take things litteraly, like sarcasm or jokes. I have a few stims that i tend to do unconciously like if im sitting at a table i swing the palm of my right hand against the surface of the table with out moving my arm, i swing my foot really fast, i bite the skin around my nails, i always pick at the seams of my shorts. I walk weird to. Like walking feels normal but if i wach my self (like in a mirror or on a video tape) i look like im walking sideways-ish. I comstantly have bruses from running and bumping into stuff cuz im very clumsy and soooo not cordinated. People always think im sad cuz i have an emotion less face (unless the emotions are extreme) and i am very akward when it comes to comforting people and i never seem to understand why they are upset. I never know what to do with my arms so i fidget with them or hold them crossed behind my back. I like to hold myself in weird positions too. Like right now my favorite is laying on my side with the ' top' leg bent and the knee tucked into the crook of my neck. I have a facination with building lay outs, like fire excape maps or blueprints, and i like to build house replicas out of legos or dominos. I have certain ways i like to do things like how i eat sandwiches and how i get dressed in the morning. I also HATE being touched.
No one in my fammily is a aspie but my sister has ADD and my dad has OCD.( idk if this has anything to do with anything) i have synesthesia ( the crossing of two sences, so i see pain in color and all my numbers words ect. have a certain color)
im sorry this is long so thank you for reading
also please tell me if you think i have aspergers. It would mean alot to me if you did ![]()

How are we supposed to know? I don't even know if I have it. It's pointless getting diagnosed besides feeling liberated because there is no certainty. You probably do. Go research it more until you are comfortable. Look at the new DSM and see if you qualify.
Going from what you've said? A lot of classic Asperger's symptoms in there my friend. I would say that you do have it, almost without a doubt.
Even if somehow technically you didn't (and I doubt anyone who does diagnoses would really disagree), there is enough overlap in the symptoms that you'll find plenty of help and support here and in other Asperger's related places! So, welcome to the fold. It's awesome, really. ![]()

Hi Fefe333! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Check out the interesting and helpful articles and forums here. You do sound as though you may have it, but you should research it more, and take some of the online tests. There are links to them in the Autism/Asperger's forum here. You are among friends here at WP! ![]()

I don't think he's being rude, just pointing out that you don't have to own the label if you don't want to.
But it often helps to have a label on it, and I think the right label for you is quite probably Asperger's. Just remember it's not who you are, but a part of what makes you who you are, and that is not a bad thing at all.

I understand that, but I think you might be surprised at their reactions. Besides, you should not be afraid of your mum telling her friends — it's not a thing to be embarrassed about. I think you should have a serious discussion with your parents — maybe direct them to some books (like Tony Atwood's) or websites that could educate them about it — and let them know that it's important to you.

Ahh, okay. Well, if you do have experience with this kind of thing already, then fair enough.
The only thing is that if you ever feel like you need help (therapy or what-have-you), then it is certainly pretty helpful to have the diagnosis. But in the meantime, you'll find plenty of help and assistance in a place like this.
Do you mind if I ask how old you are? You don't have to answer; I'm just curious.

Fefe, dude, I get the feeling that you've got a bit of panic over the issue. If I'm wrong correct me. It's not the end of the world. We really can't tell you if you have it or not, were not MD's.
The questions are; what would it mean to you if you have aspergers? what would it mean to you if you don't?

I agree with Inyanook - seeking a diagnosis is useful (maybe even essential) if you need access to help or support eg at school/college. It may also enable you to get access to talking therapies - you may find that helpful if you have problems with anxiety, shyness etc.
Recognising that you may have asperger's or autism may be the first step on your journey to understanding yourself a bit better. WrongPlanet is a great place to start learning more, and it's great as you are among people who will understand what you are going through. For example, there's an Adolescent Autism Forum if that appeals to you - I'm guessing you're a teenager, my apologies if that's wrong
