Hi guys!

I'm dismayed and upset. After nine years of telling her my innermost secrets, I still feel that my therapist still doesn't understand me.
If fact, she doesn't even get that we have different ideas about understanding.
We can generally connect but there is no connection on this issue, and that's distressing for me.
Understanding for me is a largely intellectual process, and she seems to regard that as a problem.
I'm not sure she accepts that it's just the way I am.

I've told her I'm Aspergic but she doesn't seem to be taking that into account.

Therapists are people too. Nobody can understand you better than yourself...

"Understanding" for you is a largely intellectual process as opposed to what? An un-intellectual process? Please clarify?

Sometimes, people just don't click with their therapist. If you've been with her for that long and you still don't connect then it's probably time to find a new therapist.

I think my therapist understands by intuition and feelings.

But I do connect with her on almost every other issue.
As an Aspie, I don't have many relationships that really work, and I am loath to give up this one without a fight.
