Sorry this is a repeat topic from ages ago but the issue came up this evening. Ok. I spent like $400 on my weekend vacation to Disney World WOW! Basically I have about $700 but basically worked it out to where after paying the $400 but then adding my SSI check for May/June (June is right around the corner) I'll be right at $1,000 YA! I was so excited my finances worked out despite spending TONS of money on vacation. I screamed and my family were mad at me OMG! Why did you get excited like that! They don't understand me or my interest at all. I feel defeated and sometimes say to myself "Why bother" but IMO if I had that attitude budgetting wouldn't get done and bills wouldn't be paid!! ! I so wish I had others who supported my interests and understood my Aspie quirks. :-(

I like finances, I like to work everything out. I note down almost everything I spend. I also work out how much each of my toiletries cost per month so I can see what is cheapest. I am quite careful with money and try and save as much of it as possible. I don't know if this has anything to do with Aspergers, it might just be because I am Scottish

Every now and then, I do overspend (by my standards). It's almost always during the early phase of a special interest. Then I get very anxious about it and feel awful.

I think your family should be glad that you are responsible with your finances, so many people get into debt unnecessarily.

I am surprised an aspie can even go to a huge theme park like that without suffering information overload. I used to work at Universal Studios Hollywood but I was mainly confined to one area - Jurassic Park The Ride. I let people on and off the boats. Anyway, if you had the extra money to spend - and you didn't need it for rent or bills - then to me it seems okay.

Thought you were going somewhere else with this, but I can answer thus; personal finances, I'm okay with.

My understanding is that there are a larger than average percentage of Aspies who work as Accountants, so I am guessing it's reasonably common.

Finances give my brain a buzz :) it's this love for finances that will see me save a good sum in the next 2-3 years. Something I never was able to do as I never addressed some problems.

Glad you are gonna have a wad of money to take to Disneyland with you :) have a great time!

I find finances boring, but I guess this is a useful interest to have.
