Is bouncing on tip toes a form of a 'stim'?

I've been thinking of this for a while now, ever since a friend of mine pointed it out...

Apparently, I do this a lot every time I talk with someone I'm not very acquainted with, I 'bounce' on my tip toes, with my whole body jerking, with me never quite knowing where to put my arms; either by my side or in a rather fidgety manner in front of me...I believe if I am correct, that this would fall under the category of 'complex whole-body movements'.

Apologies to those of you who cannot picture the motion I am describing, as I too find it hard to visualize my own body language.
I'd be very surprised if anyone would actually be able to understand a word of what I just said, but even if you can recall having an experience like this, of any sort then I would be very glad to hear of your own experiences...

Thank you.

I do something similar - bouncing on my toes - very often, when I'm playing music. I do a lot of different movements when I'm playing music - things like rocking back and forth, swaying, and so on; it's a pretty long list. I also don't think about doing it and usually don't realize I'm doing it because my attention is directed at the music.

In one of my bands, the guitarists and I try to coordinate this one knee bending move - if I can keep it going it keeps me from doing some other movement, but I often will randomly switch to another movement and not realize it.

Yes. I do it when I am hyper or really excited.

I do it when I'm really excited, as well.

It's the same with me; that's why I was so shocked when my friend had observed me doing it and told me...doing it just feels natural to me.

I used to do that more than I do now.
Now I've gotten used to controlling it's RANGE: Stand on toes but only so heel is an inch or two above ground. Kinda vibrate from that position up and down maybe half to one inch.
Great for the calf muscles too;-) -if anyone notices just say your doing your calf exercises. Say a physio told you and allude at a knee or ankle injury;-)

I do it only rarely now, or it has to be a conscious act. I think I used to do it more when I was younger.

I used to do it a lot but too many broken legs put a stop to it.

Now I'll lie in bed and vibrate my toes really quickly under the covers.

i dont really bounce on my toes that often, only when i'm waiting on someone so we can leave (any situation).
i do bounce my leg on my toes when i sit though, as a way of getting rid of energy, simular to hand-flapping, but less visible, and it allows me to still sue my hands for typing...

also, if i'm stressed and/or tired, i will simply walk on my toes, but i count that as different, since it's not bouncing, but a full walk

That's a good one...I suppose that story could corroborate with my claim of Arthritis in my joints! ;)

I walk a bit like that when I don't have shoos on (my preferred state). I also use it as an informal identification criteria for when I'm working with children.

I just noticed at last nights band practice, that I do the toe bouncing more often during more high energy songs. But during -everything- I am doing some sort of repetitive movement.
