I know I researched Asperger's Syndrome for 5-12 hours a day for a week, and then it simmered down abit, to only 1-5 hours a day for 2-3 weeks, until I concluded I had AS (I have gotten it confirmed officially now). I still research it, and wrongplanet has also become a related obsession.

Not sure I can count myself as an "Aspie" since I'm not completely sure I've got AS but yes, it's my special interest at the moment. Has been for the past 3 months or so. Spend hours and hours every day obsessing over it.

Researched everything about the topic when I first was suspected of having asperger's. it's what I do when I'm diagnosed w/ anything or suddenly get faced with something relevant that I've never known about before.
I don't think it'll remain as one of my longterm obsessions though

I've taken a healthy interest, which I've learned to tone down a notch due to keeping up with other interests and having to eat. I had been 'diagnosed' WITH it by family in the nursing field way back and I ran around killing myself to prove I'm not Rain Man, when recently began showing traits from the stress and landed here to find a couple simple explanations for why life goes the way it does

I like researching aspergers. I mean, it's not as intense an interest as raccoons is anymore, but I do find myself reading and rereading the symptoms, characteristics, and watching hours and hours of videos relating to aspergers.

I am pretty certain I have aspergers.

It seems like an obsession with one's self if one takes the idea that the Aspie has an "objective" notion of self. Or should I say "ontic" notion of the self.

I've become interested in AS and its intersection with PTSD and psychotropic drugs.

For just about 10 months now. That was the time, after hearing about it a few times, that I actually started reading up on it.

I think it's safe to say that ASDs have become a special interest for me in the last couple months.

Isn't it logical to acquire as much knowledge as you possibly can about autism when you have been diagnosed with it?

definitely! Well, I have classic autism, but until I knew more about my childhood development, I thought it was Aspergers that I had (and my first diagnosis was Aspergers before I had a more complete one done with development included). My interest for about 10 years was Aspergers and autism. It slowed down some after I got my diagnosis though.

Havent been diagnosed yet, so still not 100% sure...but I have been totally obsessed with aspergers for about 3 or 4 months now, the first couple months it was all I could think about, I would even sneak in research at work. And I've written over 50 pages about it so far in notes, observations, ect...it's calmed down a little now, but still whenever I'm not doing anything (riding the bus, sitting in class, spending my freetime on the computer) I either whip out the smartphone or the laptop and do some more research. (smart phone with google was the best thing I ever bought! Haha!)

When I first learned about it and until I was fairly sure it fits me, yes it was a temporary obsession, and every now and then that interest blooms again until I achieve a renewed sense of yes, that's me. But it's not a permanent regular special interest, so I answered No.
