I cannot believe the family of slain victims of Vernon and Christina Smith have the nerve to file a lawsuit against the Fruend family because their son William, who is over 18, an adult, shot them.
The Smiths also want to sue this support group, and the gun supplier. The gun supplier did an extensive background check on William, and it came up clean. The gun supplier followed the laws to issuing a gun.
If anyone remembers, William Freund of Santa Ana CA shot and killed Vernon and Christina Smith in their homes awhile ago. He later killed himself.
I feel very bad for the Smith family, but what does this lawsuit going to prove? Why should the parents of an adult be held financially responsible?
I have always heard the argument, "Lawsuits are not for financial gain, but to teach a valuable lesson and liablility" What lesson? Many parents, especially ones with children of special needs, work very hard to help their children and teach them responsibilities. Was Freunds parents supposed to monitor him 24/7? No. It's impossible. The parent's have lives too.
Studies even prove that people with Asperger's are non-violent. They are more emotional, but not violent.
I think it's sickening and the Smith family should be ashamed of themselves for trying to profit off the deaths of their family members. The Smiths are vindictive, selfish people.
It should have never happened, but it is NOT the fault of the parents.
No one knows what went on inside William's mind on the day he killed the Smiths, but the surviving Smith family needs to find other outlets to grieve. Attempting to fill their pocketbooks with money is NOT going to bring back Vernon or Christina.
