From a distance I sometimes look *at* eyes, but my line of sight begins lowering toward the chin as I get closer.

I think you will find that a large percentage of us share this trait. (It is, after all, a trait marker for impairment in social relationships, which is a necessary precondition to diagnosis).

I do. Unless it is somebody close or if I am flirting.

I look around their face, not directly at them. Or I look to the side.

I do. I am half deaf so I have come to do some lip reading.

I do. Sometimes I look all around the face just glancing and trying to pay attention to what they are saying. I wondered if
others did the same thing.

I have always looked at mouths all the time. I never even realized I did it until I ran across some info about it and went, "OMG, that's me!"

Yep. I look at mouths a lot of the time. I guess it's because that's where they're talking from... But i suck at reading lips, so i don't know why i do it. It's easier than looking at eyes, though.

Mouths say the darndest things topic

Now I have become very conscious of this. Teeth are quite interesting, and all the little lines around the mouth and lips. :P

I can do eye contact for a short period of time even though I had a weird obsession with eyes and the eye colours and yet I don't understand why I find it so stressful just to at someone in the eyes or a long period of time?

I even had seen my mates awesome eyes... Very glowy and it appeals but then 5 second later, I can't look... I start to get this weird feeling inside which reminds me of something that happened in the past due to eye contact.

The only times when I don't find it difficult to do that is when i'm in love with someone or actually doing a staring competition. :lol: (I don't get myself sometimes :lol:)

[edit] I'd never thought about looking to the lips or around the face, I guess that can be my new solution, thanks :D

With people I know;
Forehead if I'm close.
Legs if I'm far.

With people I pass on the street;
Straight ahead, floor or walls.

I look at the mouths because I try to focus on what you all want to say...

Plus, most eyes I see are deeply intense. :(

Always. It was one of the traits that convinced me that I'm aspie. My wife noted long ago that I could tell you anything you ever wanted to know about someones teeth, but would have no idea what color their eyes were.

Yes, yes and yes. Or space between a person's eyes.

Good strategy, because at least this part of the face is less intense.
